I'm just after the fight with OFW 2.16. I installed (paper clip method) twice. The first time there were problems with switching off after Google patch (update_googleplay_patch_try_fixed_for_OFW_v2.1.6.zip). The second time was fine. Q10 pro turns off the panel and remote control, Google login works and probably everything else.

Good day!
Is it possible to install the classic stock tablet launcher for Q10Pro in 2.1.6 firmware (as in 2.1.4 firmware)?

Boot time to the Home screen, approximately 28 seconds. When the Kodi interface starts automatically, about 48 seconds. Faster than firmware 2.1.4.

A question I have been asking for some time, Has the update server via OTA been disabled?

Some setting differences:
left FW 2.1.4    right FW 2.1.6

New function in fw 2.1.6: section Mediacenter> LAN> Fast Search

Thanks. Updating an patching was no problem at all. Easy to do.
Everything runs in good order however the only problem that I have is that I have to set every subtitle again. On the previous firmware, when I selected a certain styling it was also on other subtitles (.srt files) but now I have to repeat this over and over or every single subtitle file. Any solutions?

This depends on which video player you are using with Kodi.

For at least a year, I get subtitles "on" by default, even the built-in English ones, and have to use the menu key to switch them off every time I play a movie! There is no way of switching them off permanently and there is no way of saving individual subtitle settings  >:(.

Try highlighting a movie image on Kodi and then press the 'menu' key (three bars) on the remote. The drop-down menu should give you a "Play using ..." option. Select this and see exactly how many players you have on the system. Try using "video player" instead of "wrapper". This allows me to set subtitles to "off" by default. But, be warned, you may lose other functions!!! Perhaps the "playcorefactory.xml" file needs adjusting???

I'm past caring about HiMedia ... I've just ordered a new Zidoo Z1000 Pro ;D!

how to do the " update_googleplay_patch_try_fixed_for_OFW_v2.1.6 " update ? After I install the firmware 2.1.6 but not with paperclib method, is it with filemanager or within kodi. Filemanager say file not exist and when I do the paperclip method I lose kodi and have to reinstall ?

It´s like a new firmware. Change the name to update.zip.

If you use the "paperclip method" you will get a new copy of the firmware and the SD Card will be wiped out and you will lose EVERYTHING you have installed on it!

Kodi does have a backup app "Kodi Backup" which you can use to make a copy of most of your Kodi settings to th hard disk and later reinstall to the SD Card.

Instructions for using it are here:

Rename to update.zip, copy to a USB flash drive and install via settings menu (dirty flash) or with the reset button method, you won't lose data installing the patch that way.

Hi,
the update_googleplay_patch_fixed_for_OFW_v2.1.6 doesn't seem to support the Q30, right?
