For all orders sent to the European Union:
** Longer Delivery Times
Couriers/customs were not ready for the volume of customs documentation so it's taking a long time to process it all, causing big delays.
Update 27-JAN: We still have big delays and many parcels in the system from early January, however we are seeing increasing numbers of items getting delivered. As of today we have about 50% of EU Parcelforce from 4/1 to 13/1 delivered. For new orders to the EU expect delays of 10 working days on top of usual delivery times.
** VAT (IVA)
Our price for EU delivery now excludes 20% UK VAT. For example, Zidoo Z9X at £189.99 for UK delivery including 20% UK VAT becomes £158.99 for EU delivery excluding VAT. Instead, VAT may be collected by your delivery country customs authority at their prevailing rate.
The extent to which VAT will be collected across the EU will vary country by country. It is possible that some countries will not collect the VAT due because it is lower than the cost of collection (as in the USA up to product value $750) and it is possible that some countries will be very strict about collecting it.
** Customs Duty / Tariffs
All our Media Box products are correctly declared as TARIC (HS) 8528719100, attracting EU customs duty at 0%. This is completely separate from 'rules of origin' negotiated in the EU>UK trade deal. Confirmation here: https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/dds2/taric/measures.jsp?Taric=8528719100
You should pay no EU customs duty on Media Box products imported from anywhere in the world.
** Customs Documentation
We complete a full customs declaration including our EORI number, product TARIC, CN23, and customs invoice.
** Local Clearance Fees
If your local customs authority thinks you owe tax on the parcel they may charge you a clearance fee for the honour of collecting that tax. The methods and amounts will vary country by country.
It is important to appreciate that we have no control over what happens when an item we sell gets to the destination country. We do our utmost to minimise costs to our customers but, ultimately, control over collection of VAT/taxes/fees is with the courier/customs authority. We cannot retrieve items if you disagree with the fees your customs authority is charging you. We cannot negotiate with your local customs authority on your behalf.
