COREELEC - FULL BD MENUS & DOLBY VISION FEL
A custom version of CoreELEC (Linux based Kodi running on ARM hardware) was developed for Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen) in May 2026 giving near total 4K format support including full FEL Dolby Vision and full BD disc menus.
HOW TO INSTALL COREELEC?
We do not pre-install CoreELEC! We supply Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen) as supplied by the factory, with Google TV 14 pre-installed (box will update to latest version on first boot). You must install CoreELEC yourself, see here.
GOOGLE TV
As supplied, Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen) is a highly capable multi-purpose Google TV 14 Box offering the ability to install most popular streaming apps.
BLUETOOTH AND IR VOICE REMOTE
Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen) is supplied with a Bluetooth and IR voice remote for easy voice control of Google TV.
XIAOMI TV BOX S COMPARED TO UGOOS AM6B PLUS AND OTHERS
We made the decision to sell Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen) in preference to other products with similar CoreELEC Dolby Vision FEL support primarily due to price. The Xiaomi is much cheaper than any alternative and offers 90% of the features with excellent hardware quality. Compared to Ugoos AM6B Plus Xiaomi lacks an ethernet port (USB ethernet adapters will work), does not support MVC 3D, has no S/PDIF port and fewer and slower USB ports. We think these compromises are worth it in a budget home-brew 4K alternative to the more fully featured 8K Media Players from Zidoo or R_volution.
