Doesn't need to be differences between OFW and CFW, but as alternative root can try ROOT_SuperSU_v2.82_SR5_via_LAN.
yes, that works. I tried it when Magisk.zip didn't install. Thanks pcristi.

In version update_Q10Pro_(update&themed&Kodi18.2)[v1.0]-HMD-2.1.6 2020-07-13.172553 subtitle settings in MediaPlayer are not preserved. Each time you have set the code page, font size, etc. The official version 2.1.6 and 2.1.7 has the same bug. What's going on?

update&themed&Kodi18.2 v1.1-HMD-2.1.6 online.

Does this version keep the subtitle settings in MediaCenter?

(First comment)
I have tried to update to the various latest versions from December 2019 until now  (update&themed&Kodi18.2)[v1.0]-HMD-2.1.6 2020-07-13.172553 with (paperclip, rename to "update zip" etc.), but unfortunately even after a factory reset it starts up with the 2.1.5 version from December last year. There is no way to install any other version on my HiMedia Q10 Pro! I do see the Android ring but no bar with progress to update. I did updated some apps in the 2.1.5 version "Google Play Store, YouTube, and Google" but Google won't pop up in my main menu, and YouTube is not the desired version like I've got before like "YouTube S" without the annoying commercials.
It's a disaster and I would be grateful if I get some response on this matter. I love to use this box and usually updates run very smooth, but unfortunately the last one not!

I've been fiddling with previous official firmware updates for several times and the Q10 Pro still gives the Android circle but no upgrade bar. It just goes back automatically to the 2.1.5 fw from December 2019 which makes the HM Q10 Pro useless, because I can't get the desired icons as mentioned above. I do hope on a solution please..............

Now yes, please check.

I went back to your version 2.1.4. Do I need to install the official 2.1.6 first and then 2.1.6 custom? Maybe can I do it directly on 2.1.4?

My version is not 2.1.4 but 2.1.5, please be aware of this!
If I knew that I messed up this much with the latest firmware 2.1.6 than I didn't do upgrade anymore.
I simply can't install anything anymore since I tried the (update&themed&Kodi18.2)[v1.0]-HMD-2.1.6 2020-07-13.172553.
I know that I need to unzip the files, but usually I just rename the fw in "update zip" and normally that works, but now nothing seems to work.
I would be grateful if someone could sent me the (2.1.6) file by mail or a file transfer app, because I'm running out of ideas. Sorry that I can't be more helpful "Kirek50".

For proper working of CFW v2.1.6 is better to install onetime OFW v2.1.6 in box, if you did once not need do again.
As everyone know I'm not recommended dirty install between versions, just clean install with paperclip.

Thanks for your suggestion Pcristi. Unfortunately I can't find anywhere the OFW v2.1.6? ? ? Could you tell me please where I can get it? The last OFW is version 2.1.4. However, I think that also the official fw will not work on my HM Q10 Pro anymore, because I've tried today many times older official firmware updates from this site.
Any suggestion will be welcome.........

Thank you very much HerelsTom, highly appreciated! So according Pcristi I should install 2.1.6 fw first and with the hope that it works. For some reason I can't unzip files with WinRar, Zip 7 or WinZip, but ussualy I just rename the file into "update zip", correct? I will try this out and I really do hope that I can install afterwards the custom firmware. I'm only confused which CFW, because there are a few and I don't know which one also has YouTube Smart tv? ? ?

I have just tried to update the 2.1.6 version and it doesn't work. I have only the Android ring but after a minute or two HM Q10 Pro just boot up with the 2.1.5 version from 19-12-2019! It looks that it has baked in, and I can't change anything about that. I did this with 3 tumbdrives formatted FAT 32 and it doesn't work. When I plug in de tumbdrive and going to the internal menu "upgrade - Local upgrade" it doesn't recognize any files on the tumdrive. I know that I have to use the paperclip options etc. but it was just to check it out. I think that the file should be unzipped first despite all the discussions at this forum. However I didn't unzip and just renamed the file before copied to the tumbdrive.
However, the HM Q10 works fine with that fw version (2.1.5), but I'm not happy that I can't install apps like YouTube Smart tv, Aptoid or Google Chrome. It also plays everything from my ext. HDD. Actually it is very hard to do anything with that version and it does allow to install apps from the Google Playstore only, including "sideload", but APK's are impossible!
I do hope to get some response about this matter. Thank you all..........

Dear forum members,
Nothing seems to work and I do have a friendly request for anyone who can help me on a CORRECT ZIPPED FILE! I know it sounds ridiculous, but a couple of years ago somewhere in 2018 I bumped into the same problems.
Someone from the Netherlands (I think it was Julian and someone else) did sent me with a "file transfer app" a FW update and it worked instantly on my HM Q10!
It should be EXTRACTED by WinZip or WinRar or whatever. For some reason I can't non of the files extract correctly! So there is something wrong with te downloaded files. I know there are many forum members out there (and I am one of them) to explain that "rename" the unextracted file into "update zip", but it doesn't work in this case. It should save a lot of time than go to all suggestions and comments again, I'm 100% sure.
So, please, please anyone? ? ?

If you download the official firmware from these links:
https://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=711.0

You have to extract the file update.zip, otherwise just rename it.

Be sure you're not renaming to update.zip.zip, follow this guide to show see extensions in Windows:
https://support.winzip.com/hc/en-us/articles/115011457948-How-to-configure-Windows-to-show-file-extensions-and-hidden-files

Or, if you don't see the extension .zip on the downloaded file DON'T add it, just rename to update.

A BIG THANKS to you all! It is great to have a forum like this!
It was a problem with the configuration from Windows 10 as "stl" mentioned. every time when I opened the downloaded file I didn't noticed the wrong text "update.zip.zip". However I always have "View hidden items on, but I haven't noticed the wrong text.
I did update to CFW 2.1.7 which is nice, but how do I install all the other apps like YouTube smart tv, Aptoide etc. etc.? I'm a little confused now after my 2 days experience. What is the latest and best CFW until today? I have seen 2.1.6 updated and corrected by Pcristi, but I'm not sure.
Please, one more time support on my last question.
