Ok, got it. But what about the subtitle problem with wrapper? Once postet here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1917.0

That still happens?

Post/email me a sample subtitle file where the problem can be reproduced and I'll send it to HiMedia.

When I play mkv files from my Synology NAS  using the wrapper to get DTS-HD passthrough, the wrapper does not play. Instead it plays using the Kodi internal player, but of course without proper audio passthrough.

However if I play the same files from a USB connection, the wrapper plays fine.

Any clues as to how I can get my Synology to use the wrapper?

No, I am accessing the Synology files using NFS.

Good morning
Sorry for the inexperienced question, what's the difference with the Custom Firmware version?

Thank you

Hi!  :)
Will the Q10 Pro be getting the Android Oreo update? If so, when is it expected to roll out.

HiMedia just managed to tame the Nougat beast. This is not a typical Android device, updating to a newer version of Android does not mean that the experience will be better. It all depends on the SDK that is provided from Hisilicon. As far as I have read here, HiMedia took some shortcuts by using the MarshMallow or even the Lollipop SDK and adapted it for Nougat.

That explains a lot. For me 2.05 has been worst than 2.04, more, much more apps crashing. At this point  I just wish Himedia can put their act together and release a bug free stable version that works

Do not jump to conclusions. They did this from the first Nougat based firmware. I think Futeko said that there is no official SDK for Nougat from Hisilicon. I did not see any issues with the apps I am using and I made a dirty flash over CFW 2.0.4 (I flashed CFW 2.0.5 without losing data). I think HiMedia is doing their best given their tools. What apps are crashing now on 2.0.5 and they were not on 2.0.4? I highly recommend to use CFW, pcristi is adding extra work and optimizations.

I'm not sure where the idea that the HiMedia Android 7 firmware is based on previous SDK versions came from, but it wasn't me.

The Android 7 firmwares for HiMedia Q5/Q10 Pro come from an official Android 7 SDK supplied by HiSilicon.

The launcher crashed once, flud crashed many times and youtube a couple of times. Didn't had this issues with 2.04, I installed stock firmware with restore button method. I'm not jumping any conclusions, I'm just reacting to what you said.
I couldn't care less in having Android 8, I just want the box to work as it's supposed to.

Flud crashed for me all the time on older firmware. Maybe you need to let it stay a while after it was upgraded. Give it 10-15 minutes, I never had issues like that on any firmware after updating. I strongly recommend CFW, but it is your choice.

As has been gone through in more depth in the custom firmware thread, it entirely depends on Dolby. The product is Dolby Vision capable, it just needs the licence. The question would be better directed at Dolby: 'When are you going to give Dolby Vision licences to media players?.
