@mimicat43
look like OFW v2.1.7 have broken VPN settings.
Someone else can confirm if settings crash when try add/edit VPN connection on v2.1.7?

The settings app does crash when trying to add a VPN to my Q10 Pro.

What a surprise: a new firmware :-)

We are having the official Firmware thread: https://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=711.0

Is this version 2.1.7 an official new firmware? Why are versions 2.1.5 - 2.1.7 not listed in the Q5/Q10 Pro Official Firmware thread?

Futeko.com apparently lost interest in the Himedia brand, doesn't sell it anymore and isn't actively supporting it. I completely understand why because I won't buy another Himedia product, the support given by the manufacturer is mediocre.

I have read some complains here, but it's still unclear, that if is there a general issue with the subtitle positioning option in HiMediaPayer with these new FW's and if yes, than what is it exactly?

Another question that raised up from another Forum regarding these new FW's that it might be some issues with 25fps video playback (blank screen). Are here any experiences regarding?

And any other -even minor- bugs that users here may have discovered since the update?

Thanks.

- VPN settings crash when try add/edit --> FW v2.1.7 (easy to fix on services.jar ActivityStarter for persist.sys.start.pkg)- HDCP 2.2 blackscreens when TV is power off/on or HDMI port is switched if box still ON FW v2.1.6/v2.1.7
- White power led when box power off from USB remote FW v2.1.6/v2.1.7 (better then on 2.1.4 2019-09 where box complet stack)
- All HiMediaVideoPlayer settings mess with save option per file and not global FW v2.1.4 2019-09-->v2.1.7
- WiFi always ON when open new settings (OvSettingsUI) FW v2.1.4-->v2.1.7
- Prime video/Google play not DD+ 5.1 passthrough
- HBO Android TV missing Playready DRM keys all models
- Older box PCB 1.x missing DRM L1 key
- Blackscreens over NFS playing Kodi + Wrapper from NAS  FW v2.1.1-->v2.1.7
- Aspect ratio for 576p with DAR 16:9 FW v2.0.5-->v2.1.7

With 4K / 60Hz or 50Hz / 10bit only 4:2:0 is supported.

However, if this didn't changed since the 2.1.4 FW, the HiMedia Players color space auto switching, with freque switching working not so optimal (it should auto switch to 4:4:4 / 10bit with i.e. 23.976fps/Hz videos anyway, regardless what you have set in the Settings menu, but it doesn't do exactly). To get the best colorspace option for any videos up to 30fps/Hz, you must set manually the Player display settings to 4K / 30Hz / 4:4:4 / 10bit.

no wonder i can't select 10bit

For some reason videos played using the Kodi player no longer play correctly.  It is like the video is in slow motion.  Not sure what happened.  The same version of Kodi (Leia 18.8) was on my 2.1.4 CFW and the same videos I have problems with worked fine.

Media Center and Wrapper work fine but I prefer Kodi player for subtitle purposes.

HDCP 2.2 blackscreens when TV is power off/on or HDMI port is switched if box still ON FW v2.1.6/v2.1.7

Doesn't it help if one turns off the CEC, HDMI auto adaptation and HDCP option in the Settings menu?
Or a CEC-less HDMI adapter maybe?

One user has also reported:

He upgraded from 2.1.4 to 2.1.7 and than back to 2.1.4, but this blackscreen issue (when switching HDMI outputs on the AVR) still exist for him. Could it be that some part of the 2.1.7 FW has "stuck" somehow between? And if yes, what could be here the solution? Ha has done all the updates with the "toothpick" method.

Quote
- All HiMediaVideoPlayer settings mess with save option per file and not global FW v2.1.4 2019-09-->v2.1.7

Does this issue also apply to the subtitle position settings?

Quote
- WiFi always ON when open new settings (OvSettingsUI) FW v2.1.4-->v2.1.7

The Wi-Fi is also always ON after every fresh bootup in 2.1.1, even if turned OFF in the Settings before.

---

And to add to the list:

SD 4:3 aspect ratio videos displayed incorrectly a bit "squeezed" horizontally. (There was a Thread dedicated for this issue, with pictures demonstrating the effect, but I just can't seem to find it now). From 2.1.1 FW and up for sure.

Hi,
I'm not totally satisfied with 2.1.7: I can't register a google account (clicking on "add account" in the advanced settings doesn't do anything) an so won't get automatic updates for Kodi...
I tried to downgrade to android 5 to update to 2.1.4 again using a firmware package that was supposed to be able to downgrade from 7 to 5 - but that didn't work...
I tried resetting the device after upgrading to 2.1.7 to get the account problem fixed but that didn't work.
I also read that the new update wasn't supposed to have Google services because of the U.S. trade restrictions - I'm curious why that should effect devices that have been on the market before the sanctions took effect?!?
Be that as it may: If anyone can tell me if I've overlooked something and tell me what I have to do to add a Google account I'd really appreciate that :-)

After you installed the firmware did you installed the software package?

Hi,
I must admit I feel kinda dumb right now: I had read that it had to be installed separately but hadn't found anything - if I had opened my eyes just a little bit wider I might have noticed the download links in the first post.... ;-)
Thanks for putting up with my stupidity :-)))))

noob here - few questions; how do i identify if i have or don't have old ver Q10 4K3D
my model on the sticker states "Himedia q10 pro" but if i google for Q10 4K3D they seem to look the same.
I am currently running 5.1.1, if I follow the structure of sequential upgrades (2.0.4,2.14) to 7 2.1.7 with the additional update of flix, amazon, disney, hulu (about time), will i be able to revert back to 5 if the end goal does not live to the expectation? (like the apps crashing - kids in house!!)
thank you for your help.

Q10 4K3D (Model 2014) --> Android 4.4.2
(front side left bottom corner 3D)

Q10Pro (Model 2016) --> Android 5.1.1 upgradable to Android 7.0
(front side left bottom corner ULTRAHD)

Read first post of Q5/Q10 Pro Official Firmware and Q5/Q10 Pro FAQ
Downgrade from Android 7.0 v2.1.7 to Android 5.1.1 are still possible.
Enjoy yours Q10Pro box.

PS: Downgrade to Android 5.1.1 strong not recommended for box come with Android 7.0 and DRM L1 from factory.

thank you for your reply - all of mine are the ultraHD ver with 5.1 as the second pic shows. The units i own are not 2018 or later boxes. I also read somewhere in this forum that the new boxes (i guess with DRM L1) do not have any lights on the network connection plug, mine have both. I will give this a go and see what i have been missing - thank you for your clarification.
