Q10Pro / Q5Pro / Q30 / Q100 Official firmware version 2.1.7
« on: August 12, 2020, 02:47:07 PM »
Post from another forum, the firmware is working fine in my Q10 Pro.
If you have an older version, the order should be 2.04->2.1.4->2.1.7, versions in between install the next one in the list.

http://himedia.hu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=380#p3534

Firmware:
Q10 Pro:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/1bqf7zcpejcjw96/file
Q5 Pro:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/9121zzg522pgdf1/file
Q30:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/zoy5vg4qukrf4qr/file
Q100:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/59n7qkdira0x52e/file

Software package:
- Google Playstore
- Spotify app
- Disney +
- Prime Video
- Newer Netflix app

Install the same way as the firmware, rename downloaded file to update.zip (if you don't see the ".zip" DON'T add it, just rename to update because Windows is hiding the extension).
Q10 and Q5:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/kqgon53diima2i8/file
Q30 and Q100:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/hd6oq3k34riwqbw/file

What's New:
- Optimization for compatibility of external player programs (see Settings / Advance / Display / HDCP switch and settings and Close the system navigation bar )
- Optimization of the application manager for loading and launching applications on Android TV.
- CEC support for TV / amplifier control ( Settings / Advance / Standby / HDMI CEC )
- Fixed black screen error when playing from local storage when HDCP was enabled.

A clean install is recommended, an upgrade via settings menu should be fine if you have 2.1.6:
1. Copy the downloaded file to the root of a FAT32 formatted USB pen drive, the USB pen drive should contain a single file called 'update.zip'
2. Insert the USB pen drive into any USB port of Q10 Pro.
3. With Q10 Pro turned off, use a paper clip or pen to press and hold the the pinhole UPGRADE/RESET button on the back of Q10 Pro (next to the power port).
4. While keeping the UPGRADE button pressed, turn on the Q10 Pro.
5. Q10 Pro will show the Android 7 colored circle logo.
6. When you see the circle logo you can release the restore button.
7. A progress bar will indicate update progress. Do not turn box off or use the box/remote during update!
8. When update is complete the box will automatically reboot.

Release tips:
- The image is flickering while playing a video? Disable Imprex engine in Himedia Player (will affect all players);
- Want to change the color-space? Press 0351 before entering the advance settings;
- Kodi isn't responding to the remote as it should? Disable joystick support in Kodi addons.

You need to rename it to "update.zip"

You don't need to rename it, the downloaded file already as the name update.zip. Just copy the file to a USB flash drive. If you don't see the extension .zip don't care about it, it's fine.

The instruction post states, that the update file for the Q10 Pro linked on the himedia.hu site is wrong. What is the ground of this, what's wrong with that version exactly? And what is the difference between that and this (right?) one linked in directly here?

And can this 2.1.7 be flashed directly up from i.e. the 2.1.1 FW, or isn't it necessary to update to 2.1.6 first?

Thanks!

I upgraded my firmware from pristi's custom firmware 1.6 to the new official 2.17 everything went ok first time. However I find the new firmware when using Kodi for playback (as I did in custom 1.6) the picture was inferior. This changed for the better when I used the inbuilt media player (after I had turned off the imperex engine) I still think that pristi's custom firmware is more or less on par if a shade less bright. In the new 1.7 firmware I don't see any drop down boxes in the Advanced Settings for checking or altering 8bit or 10bit 4.4.4 resolutions is this somewhere else in this new firmware?

Press 0351 on the remote before entering the advanced settings menu to have access to the color space settings.

Thanks I will try those numbers to see if I can see these further adjustments  out of interest. With respect to this firmware I have found the use of Kodi very frustrating as to jump chapters you now have to use the other key and the subtitle button doesn't work also I can't access any buttons like stop or subtitle keys inside kodi on the screen so for me unless you want to use the Himedia  media player (picture is good though) its a no goer and I will revert to the custom firmware version much more sorted and useable for me. Thanks

Press 0351 on the remote before entering the advanced settings menu to have access to the color space settings.
I apologize for the question.
I have to press 0-3-5-1 in sequence
When am I in the setting section?
Thank you

That as nothing to do with the firmware, disable the joystick support on Kodi

My display (LG 65B6V) the maximum 10-bit setting I can set is 4.2.0.  :(

With 4K / 60Hz or 50Hz / 10bit only 4:2:0 is supported.

However, if this didn't changed since the 2.1.4 FW, the HiMedia Players color space auto switching, with freque switching working not so optimal (it should auto switch to 4:4:4 / 10bit with i.e. 23.976fps/Hz videos anyway, regardless what you have set in the Settings menu, but it doesn't do exactly). To get the best colorspace option for any videos up to 30fps/Hz, you must set manually the Player display settings to 4K / 30Hz / 4:4:4 / 10bit.
