Now how do I get My Collection to use it rather than flash

I rebooted, reinstalled the firmware
also deleted al the existing database removed all storage reinstalled firmware etc but  -Collection Management - Data storage is still Flash  not internal
Good to hear this actually is supported. Great use of the micro SD-slot in my view.

Now you got me confused. Android knows 2 types of memory only: Internal or Portable.
- Portable is just like an USB-Stick and temporary storage with Plug&Play.
- Internal is flash memory and assigned permanently and may not be removed once committed.

How Android uses and decides to use the Internal Flash plus the added Flash SD-Card? I recall that App's  memory allocations can be moved from Internal to the SD-Card?

So What i have now is the sd card and (and this also applies to usb stick) setup as internal memory
I can move apps onto this for example I moved the Aptodide app from i assume the "16Gb" memory to the 119gb sd card

But I cannot find a "My Collection" app I assume that there is a Dune HD system app which I assume is the shell/skin

On the Solo 4K when you configure system memory then when you go into "collection management" - "data storage it asks you if you wish to use system storage to store the "database".  The initial 2Gb partition can be extended by taking the drive (once you turn the Solo off) and resizing the partition to whatever you want using  standard windows partition manager programs then reinstall and you good to go

It is here that the Dune firmware in this unit falls down  it will not switch/transfer to the additional extended internal memory but stays with the base Android memory

Do  I have to root the box to see the data as  the storage  is being used but I cannot see it in any of the folders that I am allowed to view  Or do I have to install one of these apps that move apps from the internal to extended /added storage and then they use symlinks to "trick" the operating system that the app is in it's original place.  These require a rooted system

Thanks, I will send a problem report to Dune.
A month has now gone by. Dune acknowledged my problem report and then no further response. For the last three years I’ve been getting pretty much same day responses from Zappiti so Dune support is poor by comparison.

Been playing at greater length with My Collection.
Allowing "see hidden files"  in setup ... does not reveal the internal memory storage of the My Collection database so I assume you need to "root" the box to view

My Collection  will not use the "added" internal memory from the sd card (nor usb if configured as internal memory).  I have tried to see if it is used by "filling"  up the database as much as possible. All that happens is that as the memory is filled it comes a point with approx. 6Gb free memory that the box becomes "unstable" and My Collection starts crashing especially if you select view all and all genres and so

Can Dune  update the firmware to allow a choice of where to store the  "database" such as;

1) Internal configured additional memory
2) NAS location
3) external memory ie sd card, usb flash or disk.

I would assume that this applies to the forthcoming HD Pro 4K II.
You have more internal memory on this unit to play with to start!

I recommend emailing Dune directly using support@dune-hd.com.

Adding user definable location for database storage is a good idea, and it wouldn't seem difficult to implement. Out of interest, just how big is your My Collection database?

It's difficult to say   what the size of the database is but my collection of tv and film  uses about 80Tb of NAS storage another large increase is planned is on the list now that 14Tb hdd are becoming available

Currently My yaDIS database is  is 75Gb on disk but this is not fully setup it has my TV episodes and roughly 20%  of the films.  Now that 4K is out this is increasing my storage requirements as I prefer full iso's

When I used YAMJ the size of the database was about 150Gb

I cannot get my head around how My Collection "stores it's data I assume that it is a sql database and only pulls the images from the internet as and when required? even though it implies that it stores the info

You’ve got a choice in settings. You can either specify to bring back the pics from the internet or store them locally. I’ve got all posters, fan art etc... stored locally for 1700 movies and still got 9.5Gb of the fast flash memory left. In the bad old Solo days there would not have been enough memory to store a collection of that size. But in fairness it does bring the posters from the internet fairly quickly anyway.

Got a new Dune box. Quite an upgrade from WD-TV Live :). But I am missing one feature - in My Collections player does not mark which movies I already watched. Very useful for TV series.

I missed it or there is no such feature on Dune?

No there is not. Hopefully Once they get the firmware locked down more development can be undertaken on My Collection to improve and add features.

+1 to improve 'My Collection' a lot is missing, especially compared to the Zidoo!
There should be rankings for 4K UHD, Blu-ray, latest scrapper etc .......

What is happening with this nice little box? Dune pulled the plug on it?
Pushed out of the market with Zidoo Z9X?

I've had all manner of media boxes of the years (but not as many as NiceMonkey lol).

I'm still waiting for one that can play Forced Subtitles automagically like a Blu Ray player can.  This has always been the sticking point for me.

Bet this box has issues playing Forced Subtitles for 2D & 3D iso......
