Just for curiosity: the FAQ says: PSU up to 4A. :??? Why only up to 4A? Using a higher Amper PSU could do any harm or cause anomaly in anyway?

Thank you!

Using a higher amperage shouldn't do any harm but would be completely unnecessary.

I see, and what about using a 4A "upgrade" PSU, just to may gain some quality improvement in audio playback and -maybe- in the PQ? There are lot's of contrary and misty opinions regarding this over the net, so I'm asking regarding any real experiences, if it would really make any difference or would be just absolutely nothing. ?  Or what about those specially re-fabricated and enhanced "tuning" PSU-s that are suggested by some shops for dedicated media players?

You should rub weekly your power supply and power cord with snake oil so the electrons flow better.

Oh, how didn't I thought of this previously? Unfortunately I don't have any snake oil at hand at the moment, cause it's very rare in our country, but I guess some extra-virgin fish-oil would do just as good to speed up the transfer.  Too bad, that the fish-oil (even the extra-virgin type) tends to be very smelly after a while, so I guess I will wait for a more executable suggestion (or more likely for a constructive and serious answer).

You kinda asked for such an answer :)
A good power supply may have a positive impact in any device but not in picture and sound quality when we are talking about digital devices. If it was an analog device like a CRT TV, FM radio, amplifier etc it would be a different story.

I know that this is the statement of the sceptics (I also think this way, normally ;D ) but recently I've read a couple of semi-convincing opinions, reviews and adverts regarding the beneficial effect of various PSU upgrades to media players. They also involve the quality and types of the used components that the PSU have been assembled from. Like "clarifier ferritring", minimal noise level, steady Voltage flow. Here's an example. Also a couple of members on another tech Forum have the conviction that it really can effect the audio and PQ, even in the case of digital equipments and data flow (I guess something about how it could make the transfer more error-free and thus more bit-perfect).

So while still sceptical and full of doubts, but I thought there may have some real technical basis behind these beliefs.

Hello!

I have a technical question regarding the video playback capabilities of the HiMedia Player (for both Futeko and for anyone else who could answer): does it support interlaced video playback deinterlacing?! I mean both in the case of 1080i and SD interlaced video material.

Sure it can playback these videos, but is it capable to do the proper deinterlacing to result a correct PQ, as they've meant to be playback normally.

Is this already integrated and working in HiMedia Player?! :???

Thanks for the reply and any info regarding!

I have the same question....anyone?

1.st: there no proper auto frequency switching for interlaced videos at all. That means you must set the freque manually in the settings to 25->50Hz, 30->60Hz before playback, depending on source. Otherwise, the deinterlacing PQ is quite "good", even if the freque isn't switched as it must. A HTPC  or even some concurrent Android Boxes may can do a bit better, but I wouldn't call the PQ bad at all. I would say it's quite OK. But you need to do the proper freque switching manually  to get proper motion resolution, otherwise it surely would stutter. Huge drawback since the beginning (of no auto working option), but HiMedia seems to avoid any request regarding this issue...

Thank you for the answer.
So, if i choose manually the 25--->50 option there will be no micro-stuttering ?especially in moving objects or people?
Also, can i choose it while i play the video or must i go back to the menu?

Case of 25fps interlaced video switch it to 50, in case of 29.97fps switch it to 60. I rather call it a constant stutter, not micro, as it would be constant all video long,  due the half fps, the player would drop each second frame.  Bearable, but with manually switched you will get much smoother motion effect.

The most correct freq for 29.97fps interlaced videos would be 59.94Hz, but that's not an option here. So 60Hz is the closest you can get. Not sure tho if you will detect any micro stutters in this case due the not exact matching cadence. In theory you may, but maybe the player or the TV does it's job to compensate the effect.

The best and safest way is to switch it in the Settings menu every time before the actual playback happens. For everything else, leave it on 60Hz and set 24p mode back on.

Edit: Oh, and in this case don't forget to set 24p mode to OFF before you play the interlaced videos.
