HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Re: Color space which setting to select?
« on: January 18, 2020, 09:08:34 AM »
Are there some colour spaces that do not work in the Q10pro?

I cannot select RGB 10bit and 4:4:4 10bit, all others I can select but not those two.

When I go to select those colour spaces, it has a pop up message saying 'Selected is not supports, set to back'

Any ideas about this?

* Colorspace options in firmware 2.1.0 and later? The 10bit colourspace options can be restored in 2.1.0 by pressing 0 3 5 1 in sequence on the Himedia remote.
Excellent, thanks for that

Where abouts is the colour space settings located in  2.1.4?

Previous versions they were in Advanced Settings, now i only have TV HDR mode.
Thanks

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Re: Kodi not playing with Wrapper
« on: January 11, 2020, 10:18:13 AM »
Its working!

Use the instructions listed in https://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=2145.0 to get it going.

Was a pain, the playercorefactory was not located at the default location of /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/
it was
\share\runtime\write\emulated\0\Android\data\org.xbmc.kodi\files\.kodi\userdata

Even total commander couldn't find the location, had to use windows explorer and search for playercorefactory.
So friken pumped to get this back working! Navigating through the NFS folder structure was a real pain with 10tb of media.

Cheers

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Kodi not playing with Wrapper
« on: January 01, 2020, 09:19:34 AM »
Hi,

I Have been using the Q10 Pro for a few years and love it. Prior to my issue, I have used Kodi with wrapper fine.
In the last few weeks I have replaced my NAS with a new NAS with increased drive capacity. I originally had some problems discovering the new NAS on the Q10 pro but after following the kodi wiki https://kodi.wiki/view/NFS for QNAP and adding in the ports it located it fine.

Now when I go to use Kodi it only plays using the internal player and not wrapper. Any ideas what this would be and how to fix it?

I haven't changed any settings on the Q10 and not sure what to do. When I navigate into the NFS location, it plays using wrapper no worries, just not in kodi. I have checked that the 'play using wrapper with kodi' button is still ticked.

Only thing that is raising some questions, is that when I added the NAS as a NFS permanent location, I didn't need to enter my username or password (assuming because I opened the ports as per the kodi guide? but not sure)

Any suggestions?

Thanks and happy new year!

What would be the point of this?
Interesting, but dont see the value in it
I have never seen a UHD/BD/DVD/SACD standalone player which will work with external subtitles (including time shifting these) or even download these on-demand (features used often by me). Some also love Movie Wall features etc etc. The added value is in the many more features available on media players next to using a single device with a consistent user interface.

Also external USB-Players often have better compatibility with self burned discs, specifically if you actually get a burner and use the same device for burning (PC attached) and playback (media player attached) that big problem is gone.

Last but not least is getting rid of Cinavia, region codes and other nasty protection problems when playing copied discs.
Interesting, thanks for the feedback.

Very creative way to getting the  player working for you.

What would be the point of this?

nearly all TV's have many hdmi ports available for a number of devices. Even more if you run a receiver.

Interesting, but dont see the value in it

Provided you are playing files over your local network (or on the internal HDD),

The player will always default to wrapper, both from media center and Kodi. And yes, wrapper is pre installed

Enjoy

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Re: Ethernet network card broken ?
« on: August 05, 2018, 01:35:51 PM »
I had similar issues with my network cable.

It would only work occasionally. I could generally get it to work by only half pushing the network cable in (if that makes sense)

In any case, my ethernet port was faulty, (it could only connect at 100Mbps and not the 1Gbps). I contacted the vendor and swapped the unit for a new one.

New unit works fine and now connects at 1Gbps.

If your unit is not connecting i would say you have a faulty unit. Wifi is good for 1080p stuff, but wont have enough bandwidth for 4k material.

Cheers

Seems like a network error for some reason.  Since MediaCenter finds the NAS, it is not really hardware related.
Have you tried using SMB shares from Kodi, rather than NFS shares?
Tried SMB and now it works....very weird why NFS no longer works

Just happy I can now see them.

Hi,

Just got a new Q10 pro after my other one was replace under warranty.

Have installed 2.0.8, 17.6kodi, enabled Samba shares, installed persistent mount points etc

I can access the NAS and its file structure in the Mediacentre, but not in Kodi.

I can see the NAS in Kodi, but none of the internal videos

Any ideas on this one?

Cheers

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Re: Q10 Pro or Shield
« on: July 19, 2018, 03:05:43 AM »
This is probably the wrong forum to ask about comparison to a media player not sold by Futeko.....
It really depends on what you want it to do and if you are happy with the high quality video output from your Q10?

Summary of Shield issues thanks to the Kodi forum:
NVIDIA Shield (Nougat OS):
No OS/Apps - auto colorspace switching/conversion for correct color outputs for seamless SDR / 4K HDR usage.
Relatively poor 1080p > 4K hardware upscaled picture quality vs the competition and what a 4K TV can output using it's superior upscaling hardware.
Alpha (meaning a bit buggy) Kodi Leia 18.x (& soon MrMC) can work around this poor upscaling with auto 4K <<-->>1080p resolution switching, however then....
Colorspace 4K HDR >> SDR will still be a problem and what about picture upscaling for other non Kodi Apps ?
Broken unreliable/deinterlacing for Kodi Krypton PVR Addons. Use Alpha versions of Kodi Leia 18.x instead.
For Apps usage - only Kodi, MrMC, Plex and Emby can auto refresh switch for smooth video playback.
Issues with 4K HDR & HD Audio passthrough if using Ethernet, click HERE for details.
Be aware the Shield has no Dolby Audio licence, so Apos that stream 5.1 DD+ Audio like Netflix and Amazon Video needs a HDMI connected DD+ audio receiver. Otherwise expect 2.0 audio only from such Apps.
No 4K HDR YouTube. 4K SDR only.
Android TV Oreo OS - Shield Colorspace testing conducted over HERE (click) by @wesk05
HDR to SDR or BT.2020 to BT.709 conversions not yet checked.
Oreo - Colorspace issues still being reported when used with a variety of 4K HDR displays, see HERE (click) for details.
Thanks for the in depth reply.

I have read quite a bit on the topic and decided to go for the Q10 pro again. I know the product quite well now and its shortcomings.

I guess the main thing that was tempting me to the dark side was the 4k netflix, potential gaming and larger user base.

But in saying that, my TV has built in 4k netflix,  i dont think i have turned on my gaming console for 3years and this forum has been helpful.

Plus was $150 /$250 cheaper depending on the model you go for.

So now to send back the defective Q10 and wait for the new one to arrive.

Cheers

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Q10 Pro or Shield
« on: July 18, 2018, 06:50:29 AM »
Hi,

I have had a Q10 Pro for about 3months and really like it. I have found out that i have a problem with the unit and have been offered either a replacement unit or refund.

It looks like the shield his highly recommended but is it worth the extra $$

My main uses are 4k, HDR, 4k-iso, BD-iso playback. 3D is of a lesser concern (i have 3D films, but haven't watched one in over 3 years)

Maybe i'm over thinking it and should just get the replacement Q10 pro, but as the option is there i thought i would ask the question.

Cheers
