What replacement for HiMedia?
I am passionate about the Kodi interface using the superior performance of HiMedia Videoplayer.
I have heard of Zidoo, but is it similar in management?
I currently don't know which substitute to choose.
Thanks

There's no need to buy another box for now, Kodi and other apps will continue to receive updates.

The replacement of HiMendia (Q10) I mean both as processor and operating system, it would be desirable, but currently I do not know what to choose.

Most likely you're doing something wrong. Does the upgrade process begins?

I downloaded the firmware 2.1.4 and followed all the steps as on the website

(1) Make sure you downloaded the correct file: https://www.mediafire.com/file/yv9ykcwxv659i16/Q10_PRO_FIRMWARE_2.1.4._INSTALL_ON_ANDROID_7_v2.0.4+_ONLY._FUTEKO._HMD-2.1.4_2019-05-31.zip/file

(2) Open this file with WinZip, PeaZip, ... and extract the file inside it onto a USB memory stick.

(3) Check again that your USB memory stick has only ONE file on it, named "update.zip", and NOTHING else!

(4) Remember to keep the UPGRADE button pressed until you see Android coloured circle upgrade logo on the screen.

Instruction from dedicate topic of Q5Pro v.2.1.4
Quote
Download: https://www.mediafire.com/file/x6fcxznfc6dl8k5/Q5_PRO_FIRMWARE_2.1.4._INSTALL_ON_ANDROID_7_v2.0.4+_ONLY._FUTEKO._HMD-2.1.4_2019-06-04.zip/file

1. Extract update.zip (using an unzip program like 7zip, winzip etc) from the downloaded archive to the root of a FAT32 formatted USB pen drive. (the USB pen drive should contain a single file called 'update.zip'). Note, there is no need to rename anything!
2. Insert the USB pen drive into any USB port of Q5 Pro.
3. With Q5 Pro turned off, use a paper clip or pen to press and hold the the pinhole RESTORE button on the back of Q5 Pro (next to the power port).
4. While keeping the RESTORE button pressed, turn on the Q5 Pro.
5. Q5 Pro will show the Android 7 coloured circle logo).
6. When you see the circle logo you can release the restore button.
7. A progress bar will indicate update progress. Do not turn box off or use the box/remote during update!
8. When update is complete the box will automatically reboot.
9. First boot will take 3-5 minutes. The box will reboot into new Android 7 firmware. Allow boot to complete.

Alternative method
Download: http://www.mediafire.com/file/pka9xt6enitzfw4/update_Q5Pro-HMD-2.1.4_2019-06-04.100340.zip/file
1. Rename firmware update_Q5Pro-HMD-2.1.4_2019-06-04.100340.zip to update.zip.
2. Copy update.zip to the root of a USB pen drive formatted NTFS/FAT32.

3. Insert the USB pen drive into any USB port of the Q5Pro.
4. With the Q5Pro turned off, use a paper clip or pen to press and hold the the pinhole restore button on the back side of the Q5Pro.
5. While keeping the RESTORE/UPGRADE button pressed, turn on the Q5Pro.
6. The Q5Pro will show an Android logo and proceed to upgrade the firmware.
7. The box will auto-reboot when finished.
8. First boot can take 4-5 minutes.
9. Wait 15 minutes after first boot to allow system and apps to initialize.

Please pay attention for first steps that are depend on source for download firmware.

Hello Members,

Need help. I have CFW 2.0.8 working on my Q10 Pro. I tried to load OFW 2.0.9 but the booting did not load as expected and within 30 secs started booting and the screen shows as partially loaded as shown in the snaps. I tried with the standard updating procedure and tried two to three times.

Can you please suggest how to get back in original form ?

Thanks in advance

@Armas
From CFW v2.1.4 to OFW v2.1.7 recommended method is with paperclip.
https://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=4864.0

Is google play active on this ofw?
Is there a way to make it work. Im in EU

Does 2.1.6 contain google play from start perhaps?

The reason I wanna change is because atleast 50% of my movies wont display subtitles. Bo srt and no txt. Only embedded psg.

I prefer to not use kodi only himedia player since I want dts hd ma. I only watch 4k movies

Look like update.zip file is was corrupted and updated process fails.
When updated process fails are trigger Android factory reset then all user applications are removed, this why Launcher_3D have missing titles.
Download again and copy update.zip to fresh formatted USB stick then give a new try.

Currently on 2.1.4.  I tried 2.1.5 but ended up reverting due to stability issues.  For those that have gone to 2.1.7, how stable is it, and are the "improvements" listed actually worth it?
