Latest info from HiMedia.

There will be a firmware update before end next week. This will be HiMedia work only, no HiSilicon fixes.

Then another update first week of July with HDR fix from HiSilicon.

The HDR not 16:9  bug relaese  for Android 7 is released now, where are the Patch for Android 5?
Please remember, you told me and all the other waiting guys that the error resolving comes out at the beginning of July.
You don?t tell anything that this is for Android 7 only!
Would you give me an answer about these process please.

HiMedia have said that there will be only Android 7 updates from now on. I believe that has been dictated by HiSilicon.

What reasons are there for sticking with Android 5.1 on Q10 Pro? 2.0.4 is a better firmware than Android 5.1 1.1.0.

HiSilicon are only providing updates for Android 7 so HiMedia have to follow suit.

2.0.4 is a better firmware than 1.1.0.

It's not possible to change default launcher on 2.0.4.

The CS custom firmwares allow launcher to be changed, so I recommend installing one of those if changing launcher is important.

Kodi 17 runs fine on Q5/Q10 Pro. The only things that don't work are 7.1 audio and 3D-ISO, both of which are available using the pre-installed wrapper for local media. This is a direct quote from our website regarding Kodi:

"KODI HARDWARE SUPPORT Standard Android Kodi (including version 17), as downloaded from Play Store or the Kodi website, has good support for Q10 Pro. Hardware decoding with HiMedia's unrivalled image quality and Imprex 2.0 image processing works for H.264/H.265/HEVC video up to 4K60. The only features missing compared to Kodi+wrapper are 7.1 HD-Audio (5.1 DTS/AC3 max), auto frame-rate switching, and 3D ISO."

We explain the situation accurately and in detail. Nowhere do we claim 'full compatibility'. We try and be as clear and honest as possible about specifications on our website.

To say that Q5/Q10 Pro are not Kodi 17 compatible/capable is not true.

But.. I'm not going to get into a long dispute about this. The wait for new firmware has been unacceptable and I'm as disappointed about it as anybody. Within a couple of days we'll have 2.0.4 official and the firmware discussion can move forward at last.

Sorry Futeko, but can you please point a link to where exactly is that statement quoted from?! I have searched after, but couldn't find any matches.

Because -as I know so far- even DD and DTS (5.1) sound is broken in the official KODI 17.x releases on these Boxes. And all the threads I have read here recently  regarding KODI 17.x have this conclusion and the reference to the "shitty build" workaround. Also have read in many Threads that both the local video playback and the online streaming suffers from perceptible stuttering.

Here is the quote from your official FAQ Thread: * Get 5.1 audio passthrough working in Kodi 17? Kodi 17 changed how it handles audio passthrough meaning that it is currently broken on Q5/Q10 Pro (as at 25-APR-17). This will be fixed and future firmware will have full HD-Audio passtrhough (inc 7.1). In the meantime you can install a build of Kodi with the audio passthrough system from Kodi 16.1 restored. Install the 'shitty' build (stupid name we know).

Despite,  your previous quote states, that DD and DTS should work OK, and suggests that there is not any other playback issue with local or even with online stream playback (like stuttering, as I have mentioned), and -according to this- KODI 17.x versions should be all around equally compatible as the 16.1 version is.  Something here just seams very contradictory to me... Or did really I miss something and things have changed in the most recent KODI release?! :???

Thanks!

Edit: I have found your quoted description in the Q10 Product page, but it doesn't contain any reference to KOID 17, as you suggested and included. And the topic of this discussion was clearly over the 17.x version, not over the 16.1.

My quote was from the Q10 Pro futeko product description up to 6th July. It was slightly out of date, it hadn't been updated to reflect Kodi 17.

That section of the product description was updated to the current text on 6-JUL-2017. It is now 100% correct.

The differences weren't very significant and the quote still stands as a demonstration of how we try and give honest information about product specification and that we have never sold Q5/Q10 Pro on the basis of Kodi 17 'full compatibility'.

The original text would be 100% correct if Kodi 'shitty' build or SPMC were installed on Q5/Q10 Pro.

Hello to you all.

Using the q10 2.04 and having auto framerate switch causes the screen to go blank after exit in Kodi (using wrapper as the player) Streaming from my qnap ts-453a on NFS protocol (using the premounts NFS trick from himedia.

Setup : LG55UH850V TV. Onkyo TX- NR555. And offcourse the Himedia q10 pro.

When I leave it off (auto switching framerate) everything plays fine. The option replaces the 24hz option from 2.03?

Thanks Himedia. Loving the boxes as I have 2.
