Yes for me pictures quality and sound is what counts thats why I bough this Himedia!
Kodi streams have also 4k en 7.1 sound, but it is not working anymore with this brick!
People like  you only think of themselves, for me it works so it's a perfect box.  >:(

If you had read my post carefully, you would have seen that I wrote "it is far from perfect , and that I am looking forward for the improvements in the next firmware" , my point is that there are many degradating and extremely harsh comments just because KODI is not working perfectly (which by the way is not working perfectly anywhere else)
So, no, I do not think of myself only, but I don't like people getting hysterical saying they will " sell this shitty brick, or go back to previous firmware because this is useless etc etc etc"... because somehow the truth lies in between, I don't think 2.0.3 is worse than 2.0.1 just because KODI is still not working well, I can value the improvements elsewhere, and I do not concentrate only in KODI.

*without taking this personally, as i don't :P And i'm assuming you were not completely pointing at me lol*
I have no choice BUT to revert to older firmware :p The box, the way that it is behaving with 2.0.3 for me, IS useless as it keeps crashing. Not being hysterical, maybe a little bit frustrated as i prefer watching movies/shows instead of fiddling with firmware :)

For the 'i use this' and 'i use that' comments... Well, everybody has a use in mind... I've actually never used kodi! i only *wink wink* bought this box because it could house an 3,5"hdd internally. My external 2tb was full so i bought the Q10 pro and placed a 6TB (max hdd according to Futeko).

Just now i noticed the egreatA10... Looking pretty good to me :P That can house an 8tb hdd and you can add another one via the sata plug on the back side. Maybe i'll get that one later this year :P

Anyhow, getting off track here:
I'm not hysterical (as of yet) but i will revert to 2.0.1. Just finished downloading pcristi's 2.0.1 and i'll see how that works. If that has my box crashing again i'll go back to Futeko's 2.0.1.

Do you have any clue as to why some boxes react differently to the same firmware?? Anything i can do (ie log's or whatever?) to help fixing it?

And why i find it strange that you advice other people's firmware:
1: 99/100 companies would void the warranty after flashing custom firmware. (So in that regards, kudo's for not being one of those 99, but it's still an odd/unheard of policy :P))

2: You are the company that designs/engineers/builds/sells the box and its firmware. Personally, if it were my company, i'd make sure i would be delivering the best in both hardware and firmware to ensure people to become repeat customers.
If Pcristi's firmware is better (personally i like the bit more colourfull look Futeko's firmware a bit better, as to other issues i can not comment yet as i've only had the 2.0.3 firmware from pcristi 3 times now and still crashes) i would take a gooooood hard look at that firmware and implement his changes into my own, heck, i'd contact him (or her:P) to do some (freelance) work so that everything that customers use, has the FUTEKO branding on it. Just my .02 cents in that department. IMHO that only could benefit your company in both short and long terms and increase customer satisfaction.

The mixed feedback is strange.

My advice is to install using restore button method and immediately after install sign into Play Store and update all apps. Then reboot and install / configure as you want. This should create a clean and updated base.

1. That's the way we've always done it. Successful products will always attract talented people to work on the firmware. A combination of good official updates and an active userbase developing custom / third party firmware is the best mix.

2. We are not the designer or manufacturer of the HiMedia products. HiMedia are a subsidiary of Huawei (revenue $31billion in 2016) and located in China. We (futeko) are a retailer based in the UK with revenue somewhat less than $31billion! >:(.
That's how i installed all firmware, as the OTA always gave me an message saying i was using the latest version.

like i said, i applaud you for allowing custom firmwares without nagging about warranty.

I thought you were the ones who made this box :P My bad. I'm sorry you're not grossing 31 billion :p

And as i said, is there any way we as users can help Futeko in finding the cause for the crashes/mixed feedback? I'd be happy to do so.

No, I was answering to a previous post from HereisTom , and I was referring to the people making harsh, insulting remarks, as if, FUTEKO were responsible for the firmware itself. Anyway, If I had the problems you have, I myself would also revert to a previous version, the same way I did that when I tried the "beta" firmware that was released 2 weeks ago, and it was very unstable with bad picture quality. But the fact is, until now at least, pcrist's custom 2.0.3 firmware is stable for me, and pic and sound are great.

Sorry, but can you be a bit more specific? I'm all new to Android system editing, and the tutorial I have found on the internet makes me think that it should work this way:

First I need to install Android SDK on my computer.
Run the ADB terminal and enter these commands:

First to backup the original pointer:
adb pull /system/framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi-v4/pointer_arrow.png c:/Android/Bakcup

Than to copy my custom pointer to the Android Box:
adb push c:/Android/pointer_arrow.png /system/framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi-v4/

This would replace (overwrite) the original pointer_arrow.png file on the Android Box with my custom file?!

I guess I'm missing some steps, like to enter and identify my Android Box ip address in the ADB terminal, right? Or do I need to use the OTG USB cable to make this work? The tutorial I have found on the internet are all about connecting the Android device to the PC with an USB cable. :???

And sorry for the OFF, and that I have asked this publicly, but other might also would know how to do this properly. (That arrow really needs to get changed... ;D)

I mean, for a player in this price range, HIMEDIA needs to start thinking (fast) about unifying the all design interface.  It looks great outside but it feels very cheap inside!

What's the problem with the cursor?

Because it's ugly! There's a reason why Windows and Mac interfaces have simple pointing arrows as cursors, they don't feel cheap.

I quite like it. The cursor has to be bigger for use on a TV where you sit further away than a computer monitor?

Indeed, it has to be bigger than a regular windows or mac cursors. Probably wasn't a good example.
A good example will be the cursor of the WEB OS for instance. It was designed with that distance in mind and it doesn't "offend" the rest of the interface.

I have a problem with my q5 pro, so I had to manually install firmware 2.0.3.  Everything was erased and had to reinstall all of my apk's and kodi from a backup.  Now I check online update and it says there is another 2.0.3 Official update and all my data will be erased.  I am confused.  Has there been 2 separate 2.0.3 firmware updates, and what are the changes?

No. There is one 2.0.3. What is the build number. Settings - About?
