For those people reading this and wondering what is this terrible 23.976 problem, it's a single repeated frame every 41 seconds to compensate for movies being filmed at 23.976fps whereas TVs usually display at 24/50/60Hz.
It's a 'problem' that gets talked about on technical forums but most people wouldn't otherwise be aware it exists.
Thank you for the technical description (but you have to throw away, not repeat one frame).
But it is not only a technical problem for nerds.
What happens for most of the people in real life is a noticeable micro-stutter every ~42 seconds.
I only know people who recognize this micro-stutter and for them it is a nuisance.
Personally nobody told me he/she did not notice it and it doesn't matter.
I am happy that Himedia is aware that this is a problem.
And I wrote: "We only can pray and hope that HiMedia together with the SoC manufacturer Rockchip will fix this also in the future, but this is
not promised."
I called it a fix because from an expensive media player I expect that after some month it can play the most common BluRay frame-rate in the world!
Which frame-rate have the Chinese cinema movies/BluRays (23.976!?), I did not understand that this has not a high priority for Chinese manufacturers?
Multi Frame-rate support is also a basic like AV synch...
What have to be said also is that you give a good support at futeko.com and that this is something special.
You did not only sell things and do not care after selling. That was the reason why I bought at futeko.com. - Thank you.
Just to add that anyone having these bad audio/subtitle sync problems should ensure that they are running the latest firmware, installed using reset button method.
I've been testing and I really can't replicate the problems. And, we've sold quite a lot of H8 now and the number getting these big problems are minimal.
I run the latest FW and I used the reset button method (show the androide mascot during installation) and I have massive AV synch problems with 2D-MKVs and 3D-ISOs and blocking artefacts with some 3D-ISOs (in Kodi and HiMedia player) and I did it twice because after first installation I had chosen the wrong launcher (not the 3D).
