Issue with internal hard drive and delete option in Q10 Pro
« on: December 17, 2017, 08:10:31 PM »
Hello everyone,

I have an issue with my internal hard drive and the Q 10 Pro.

After deleting some backups using the file manager that is installed by default the space seems to running out. The files are removed but the space on hard drive is not cleared. So, now with three backups, instead of having 500 free gigabytes I have only 30.

Since I have a laptop without a connection to my hard drive is there any way to fix this ?

Thank you

With a printer cable connect the Q10 (back USB port) to your laptop and check the hard disk for errors. This is a common issue and will be solved.

wow, just stumbled across this thread...

have exact the same troubles => disk-space "disappears" when deleting files via LAN on the internal HDD of the box. can be fixed via USB-connection to PC and chkdsk /f => but will re-appera with every new deletion via LAN... VERY ANNOYING!

Please fix this ASAP!

i also can confirm this. 1tb hdd ntfs formatted, deleting files from samba. entries will be deleted, but space remains occupied.
could be repaired, as stated, using usb connection to pc and chkdsk
or, easier, unmounting the hdd from settings-storage and remounting.
restarting won't solve the problem.
deleting files with internal filemanager doesn't have this problem

I confirm with what i wrote above, i also have the same problem, erasing the files from a hard disk connected usb free space does not increase, i also tried to format and try again but the problem persists. Will we have to wait for news? Thank you

I just faced this issue.. this is wierd one.. you delete files through lan, but that does not frees the space.. today my harddisk was showing full, but when i connected the player through usb to my pc, its all sorted out..
I think we cant do file deletion over lan, that will repeat the issue

And what if I delete files from a torrent application, like tTorrent running on the HiMedia Box and operating from the web interface on a PC or a Tablet? Will there be the same problem?

This is actually the same thing as reported in second half on this thread http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=2677.0

File system corruption is by far one of the serious problems one could imagine as it could result in loss of data. It has been almost 2 months now since it has been first reported. It took me 1 (one) day to reproduce it on Q5Pro, other users have reported the same thing - I wonder how long will take for Futeko/Himedia to fix this?

It's not in my nature to criticize in general, but the way Futeko/Himedia deals with bug fixes is simply wrong. If you compare the list of the fixes from 2.0.6 to 2.0.7 with the "list" of reported and open problems (and also confirmed by several users) on this forum, you probably won't find any common points. And this fact is something to worry about. Now I also see why many users have simply gave up...

Have a nice day all of you.

We are a reseller. All we can do is report any bugs to HiMedia, which is what we do.

So I understand this correctly, if you only use the application that is already installed in the device, there is no issue with free space when deleting files?

If so, why not just do it that way, seems to make more sense and removes all the variables of doing it remotely (of which I'd bet are many) unless there are limitations in doing so..

Yes, using the Q10 file browser to delete files seems to work fine imo.
However it's usually easier via an external PC.

Hello!

So 2.0.9 fw now and still no official resolution for this issue?

What I've read here -so far- that seems to be the most easier:

Quote
or, easier, unmounting the hdd from settings-storage and remounting.
restarting won't solve the problem.

Does it mean I have to turn off the Q10 Pro, detach and than reattach the HDD's to the SATA connector, than turn on the Q10 Pro, and than all the free space will be "back" and reported correctly?

Or do I need juts to unmount the drive and than simply reboot the Box to get the same result?

Seems almost impossible for me that a device that is advertised with internal HDD handling capability for years now, still has this very mayor issue.
