720x576 aspect ratio problem
« on: November 23, 2017, 05:17:09 PM »
Hello,

I recently updated my Q10 PRO to version HMD-2.0.6 2017-10-25.

After that I started to have problem with aspect ratio!

If I set to "original ratio" from Play mode menu > Screen size, all videos seem to have a good ratio and resize except the DVD in ISO format!

When I play an iso DVD, the screen don't resize good and play like an old 4:3 ratio!

With my previous firmware (HMD-1.0.6 2016-07-07.151525) I have not this kind of problems...

Anyone can help me to solve?

Many thanks

DVDs are usually SD and originally in 4:3 aspect ratio. You can check  it on your PC with MPCHC->File->Properties.

Same problem. 16:9 video's are not displayed in 16:9 aspect ratio when original aspect ratio is selected. This used to work correct.
It appears that the aspect ratio is now determent by the Width =720 and Height = 576 vertical pixels  instead of the aspect ratio (16:9) that is also mentioned in the mkv. But a pixel is not square in PAL wide screen. The aspect ratio information should be used.

For now I use full screen to get 16:9 displayed correctly. But it means that I have to switch when I want to watch a 4:3 aspect ratio correctly.

Hi ,

i just got the Himedia Player and while it plays many Formats accurate
it has a big Issue in playing 720x576 16:9 TV Captured and encoded to H264 Content.
720x576 16:9 ( SD ) is Standard here in Germany beside 720p and 1080p.

Issue Description:

720x576 16:9 Content Videos Aspect Ratio is wrong displayed when played in Media Center ( Looks like 4:3 Squeezed )

Surprising:

If you press Chapter Forward Keys on Remote and it skips to next Video,
then the Aspect is detected absolutely ok.
Also works same if you have a 720x576 16:9 H264 MKV with Chapter Marks,
then once you click next Chapter, the Aspect Ratio is correct 16:9 displayed then from scratch.

With MP4 it is correct once the next Vid plays.

This stays till you End Playback and leave Playback.

So the Player actually detects the correct 720x576 16:9 Aspect Ratio,
but only when using Chapter Keys and not within the normal Mediaplayer playback.

Keep Aspect: Keep Ratio
1080P 24 HZ ON

24p ON

TV is set to AUTO Aspect ( LG LED ) , also tested all Variations including 16:9

My last Mediaplyers Xtreamer Sidewinder 2 and 1 detect this Videos Aspect flawless.
Also my 2nd Sony LED TV Mediaplayer  detects all the Videos accurate.

Edit: 13.12.2017

I noticed now after reading a similar Issue Report
http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=2576.0

that in FW

2.0.4 FUTEKO. HMD-2.0.4 2017-07-07.110752/142542 http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=2097.0
it is working accurate and no longer in the next FW including current October Release.

So it seems to be a similar Case affecting  DVD and File Playback in 720x576 since the last two Updates

Greetings

Thx for your reply but this thread is about

720x576 16:9 MP4 & MKV

I can also play 720x400 in 16:9

but not 720x576

Please download the attached Samples and test them :)
http://dropmefiles.com/buwtM

Display: 1080p 50HZ
TV Format: 16:9 (and Auto tested )
Keep Aspect: Keep Ratio
1080P 24 HZ ON

I am not willing to choose "Strech toFullscreen " alltime now.
This would be a mess i would not accept that from any Media player as a customer to have to switch alltime from Keep aspect to strech.

The Feature was working flawless in 2.04  but no longer in 2.05 and 2.06.
And i want to enjoy the player with current Uodates including working 720x576 16:9 Flag Detection.
Its not a niche . Its German Standard TV Format.

I paid 160 EURO for that player which has now such buggy Firmware.

Same issue here on my Q5Pro since

2.0.5 FUTEKO. HMD-2.0.5 2017-09-13.203944

with ISO PAL 720x576 DVD in 16:9.

Its same wrong Aspect displayed with 720x576 16:9 MP4 and MKV.
All Videos have a 16:9 Flag but this is no longer detected.

Thx for Info that  its is working in previous Firmware.

Yep, I was confused it previously.  Tested and it plays 720x576 16:9 DVDs and also SD .mkv videos at a wrong 4:3 ratio.

Hi there!

Any news on the subject? It is a big problem for me to, cause I got many TV-Series on DVD-Files which are 720 x 576 or when NTSC 720 x 480. I don't want to go back to an older firmware version, who knows what happens then...

Please leave a short feedback for us to know if we can expect a fix in the near future.

Many greetinx

Also I have encountered this problem with the new firmware (2.0.6), and since I have many movies (720x576) 16: 9, this fact creates problems.
I ask if it pays, pending resolution of the problem, to downgrade to version (2.0.5) or even this presents the same problems?

Thank you

You can downgrad to 2.04 .
In 2.05 it was already no longer working.

Why does it takes so long for their developers to rollout a fix ?
Unbelievable... this is really low level Support.
I will mention this in my Amazon Review and warn German people buying this Player currently.

I downgraded to firmware 1.1
At least I can see my precious personal films in pal format in 16: 9.
For me this is a very serious bug for a player

Will be much convenience for user witch need proper aspect ratio for 720x576 16:9 to install just old player from FW v2.0.4 on FW v2.0.5/2.0.6.
Is lost BD/UHD menu but will keep possibility to play main movie on UHD disc.
Just follow instruction to restore "new HiMediaVideoPlayer" from my old post with restore method(paper clip).

Don't forgot to backup all sensitive data before use  restore method(paper clip).

New HiMediaVideoPlayer is like that in both official and CFW 2.0.4.
For restore old HiMediaVideoPlayer download restore(old_player)_HiMediaVideoPlayer_1.0.11_HMD_0411(AirMouse_inputs_support).zip rename to update.zip and apply from Setting/Upgrade/Local Upgrade. In case want new HiMediaVideoPlayer again use this update.zip with restore method.

Look like new recovery from FW 2.0.4 don't accepted from first try, sometime need to try 2 times consecutive.
So download restore(old_player)_HiMediaVideoPlayer_1.0.11_HMD_0411(AirMouse_inputs_support).zip, rename to update.zip copy to USB stick.
Apply from Setting/Upgrade/Local Upgrade/USB_x to get old player HiMediaVideoPlayer_1.0.11_HMD_0411 from CFW 2.0.3.
In case want new HiMediaVideoPlayer(VideoPlayer VideoPlay) again use this update.zip with restore method(paper clip).
