Quick question.
I do not have a NAS drive and I do not use NFS sharing. My videos are in simple shared folders on a Windows 10 computer. The Guest account is enabled with no password, and unsecured logins are allowed via Group Policy.
With firmware 1.08 on my Q10 Pro, Kodi opens those folders via smb:// and uses Wrapper to play the files therein. No stuttering even in 4K movies since my home network is wired gigabit, and I get DTS-HD / Dolby TrueHD via my receiver.
One important fact on firmware 1.08 is neither Kodi nor Wrapper ever asked me for a Samba username and password. In fact, I did not have to open the Wrapper app at all. Everything just worked.
Then I followed the instructions to upgrade to firmware 2.06.
Update was successful, so I set Kodi up in exactly the same way. I added my shared folders and again, Kodi did not ask me for my SMB password. It could open all my Windows shares. But my videos would not play. What happens is the Wrapper app comes on screen and asks me for my Samba username and password. I never had to do this before.
If I set Wrapper to play via Kodi, Kodi plays my videos, but no HD surround sound. Of course, I want HD surround sound.
So my question is: what setting did I miss?
