Make sure that the file Name is update.zip. I downloaded  the 2.0.6 from HiMedia Support and noticed that the filename was update_q10.zip
I simply renamed it before copying to my usb stick and then the update worked fine.

THat did not work for me.  I renamed it to Update.Zip and selected to update through the menu selection.  The unit rebooted, and all the settings and apps were stripped  The unit is still on firmware 2.05, and reset to factory settings.  Help !!!!

How can i get my unit to version 2.06 ?  I am located in the USA.

I should also note that I have tried this upgrading with the file stored on the internal hard drive and from a USB stick.  No luck either way.

Follow link and instructions form page 1 of this thread!  There is no need to rename the correct file, download from link and simply extract the update.zip file to a USB drive.
It will update from Settings/Update (assuming your firmware 2.0.5 is correctly installed).
Doing it this way kept all my settings, apps and Kodi 17.5.1 fully in tact.

If you are still having issues, you may need to use the recommended "pin method" to update.  This resets everything to default settings.

Whenever I extract the files from PKZip, it reports 7 errors, yet extracts the files.  This happened also in version 2.05, yet i was able to successfully install the firmware in zip form.

I am guessing the reason for the errors is because maybe the zip file contains duplicate directory names, and yet the Q10 box knows how to extract and install the files correctly into that box ?

Let me know before I try downloading the newer file using the instructions you just enclosed.   I will try this out tomorrow, as it is bedtime for me now.

OK, I tried as you suggested.  I downloaded the zip file again, extracted the files to a USB drive.  I encountered one duplicate file related to audio during the extraction.  There seems to be an audio file that is extracting to the same location of where a previous file was extracted.

I plug in the USB drive.  I go to the settings screen, scroll to Upgrade, select the Local Upgrade, select USB2.0.  It says no Upgrade File found.

And now I get a System UI has stopped - not because of trying to upgrade - but because I am downloading some streaming apps, and then select a few as favorite shortcuts.  When I power off and restart the HiMedia Q10 Pro, I am greeted by this unpleasantry message.

I have removed them as favorite shortcuts.  However, I am still getting this message.

Quick question.

I do not have a NAS drive and I do not use NFS sharing. My videos are in simple shared folders on a Windows 10 computer. The Guest account is enabled with no password, and unsecured logins are allowed via Group Policy.

With firmware 1.08 on my Q10 Pro, Kodi opens those folders via smb:// and uses Wrapper to play the files therein. No stuttering even in 4K movies since my home network is wired gigabit, and I get DTS-HD / Dolby TrueHD via my receiver.

One important fact on firmware 1.08 is neither Kodi nor Wrapper ever asked me for a Samba username and password. In fact, I did not have to open the Wrapper app at all. Everything just worked.

Then I followed the instructions to upgrade to firmware 2.06.

Update was successful, so I set Kodi up in exactly the same way. I added my shared folders and again, Kodi did not ask me for my SMB password. It could open all my Windows shares. But my videos would not play. What happens is the Wrapper app comes on screen and asks me for my Samba username and password. I never had to do this before.

If I set Wrapper to play via Kodi, Kodi plays my videos, but no HD surround sound. Of course, I want HD surround sound.

So my question is: what setting did I miss?

Did you extracted the files even from the update.zip file? You should not! Just copy the update.zip file as it is (unextracted) in the root of the Pendrive. And first of all -as also suggested one time above- read and INTERPRET the instructions in the first post carefully.

If all this still doesn't work:

Make sure you use a max 8GB capacity Pendrive formatted to FAT32.
Try the first USB slot on the left side of the Box, if it doesn't work, then go around and try the other slots in order.

Thanks.  I tried unzipping the files to the USB drive to update, and using the update.zip file on the USB.  Both attempts failed.  I am using a 64GB USB drive as fat32 or exFAT32. And I also tried it from my 1.5TB drive as well which is formatted as NTFS.

If you suggest using an 8GB drive or less, i will see if i can find one.

Thankws for the suggestion and i will look for one.

Use tool like  MiniTool Partition Wizard Free Edition to make smaller partition 4GB/8GB on your 64GB USB and format as FAT32 or NTFS then try recovery method, if fails try few consecutive times...

I was able to update the Q10 Pro to firmware 2.06.  The two keys to success were:
1.  Make sure to use an 8GB USB stick or of lesser size (format it in exFAT32 or FAT32)
2.  Rename the download to update.zip.  The firmware will not update if you leave the filename in its native download name.

Thanks much for your help !!!

Unfortunately for me, using a 64GB USB or a 64GB SD Card did not work for me.  Nor having the zip file on a 1.5TB internal HD inside the unit did not work.  It failed to update in all 3 scenarios.

The person who suggested to use an 8GB USB Stick or of less capacity did work.  This is what worked for me on my Q10 Pro.  So from my perspective, the suggestion is accurate since it is the only suggestion that worked.  Note that I used a 1GB USB stick which the update was successful.

There is no ASS cinematic subtitles working in wrapper with new firmware 2.0.6, ASS cinematic subtitles only work in kodi player also SRT subtitle with italic format still not working on wrapper only works in kodi player.

With wrapper all my subtitle is known as India subtitle, in fact my subtitle is Indonesian but if I use kodi player then my subtitle is known correctly as Indonesian subtitle. As far as I know there is no India subtitle, there is only Hindi subtitle. I think Himedia should look at MKVToolNix because a lot of languages from many countries including country code for subtitle available there and can be used as default subtitle on wrapper.
