I apologise for there not being a perfect firmware release yet but it is to a great extent out of our control. We are a reseller and not the manufacturer. We continue to push Himedia to get a perfect release out.
The himediatech site is official Himedia, I have asked them why they have published 1.0.6 and they say that, regardless of it being imperfect, they want to show progress. That same release was given to us as beta a few weeks ago. In my opinion it is best viewed as a beta, we certainly won't be publishing it as final. We await improved firmware, and what 1.0.6 does show is that the firmware is at least being improved.
Himedia have an excellent record with firmware and this won't be an exception.
Or is Rockchip the problem?
The fact that H8 and Q5/Q10 use completely different chipsets is more relevant. The HiSilicon Hi3798C in Q5/Q10 has been aeound for about 15 months, so loads of time to get it working well. The RK3368 in H8 has been around for 2 months.
