Samba/Skype 2.0.1 firmware issue
« on: February 26, 2017, 06:29:26 PM »
Hello back, I got a problem with my q10 pro on last 2.0.1 Android 7 firmware :
First, DHCP is not working so I set up static IP in the settings and internet is working great now but the samba server has problem, when I want to connect to him, the samba server name is "LOCALHOST" and my pc is showing folders of it not mnt folder of the box
When I try to connect to "LOCALHOST" with my android device, it tells me to login with username and password wich is not set in settings (I already tried administrator user but it doesnt work)
So what's going wrong ?

DHCP not working does not have anything to do with the Q10 Pro. And you should try to connect using the IP, it should not fail. Samba is the name of the service used to access a Linux (or Android) from a Windows PC, not viceversa. You mixed things up a little here.

Im sorry but samba servers can be accessible not only from windows, even from android with es file manager for example and you can create samba server in windows by sharing folders on network so it works vice-versa
But this doesnt answer the question

Yes, it does. Use IP instead of hostname.

Even connecting to the server using IP adress shows the same problem as described in first post, I dont understand what is happening because habitually the server name is something like "Android-xxxx", now its "LOCALHOST"

Between, the dhcp problem has something to do with q10 pro because I changed my internet router by a new one thinking it was the problem but dhcp still doesnt work with the new equipment ... so Himedia needs to do something for this problem in the next firmware I hope ...

Hi with SAMBA on my Q10 (android 7) I find that I need to keep going into settings turning it off then back on and then it works until next time I reboot.  I've connected from Windows but not tried android.

I suggest you to assign IPs based on MAC, so that your devices have the same IP all the time. This way you do not need to check the IP everytime you want to connect to it. The fact that there are quite a few having DHCP issues (the other user fixed it on his side), I tend to think that there is no issue with DHCP on HiMedia side. I have connected mine on 2 different networks through cable and I had no issues whatsoever. The whole issue is in fact a DHCP issue. If your device has the same IP as another device in your network, you will not be able to connect to it. If you are using the router from the provider, these tend to have issues, especially since you may not be able to configure them properly. Check the cables as well. I would strongly start assigning IPs based on MAC address.

The device has already the same IP all the time I assigned to it and I tried other cables and dhcp still wont work ...
Wait, I saw another thing : ethernet port behind the box has only orange light flashing, the green one is not  :o
Maybe this is the problem ...

I noticed another problem : Skype wont recognize my logitech webcam (TV cam for skype : http://support.logitech.com/en_us/product/tvcam-skype) and it tells me to "close app" after a video call
Dont tell me that the webcam isnt compatible because it was working perfect in the previous 2.0.0 firmware ...

If you assigned it manually, recheck the subnet mask. Check the list of supported peripherals here http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=904.0.

Try Settings - More - Apps - Skype - Permissions - enable Camera.

The netmask is the same of other devices connected on the network with dhcp : 255.255.255.0

It's already enabled, I tested the webcam on my pc to see if it was defective but it is not ...
