An .srt file with the same name as the movie (e.g. movie.mkv would have movie.srt) should be placed in the same directory as the movie.

It will then be visible by pressing remote menu key - Subtitle settings - Sub switching.

A very nice feature would be to have a "add subtitle" option from where you could choose an srt from your files without having to rename the srt same as movie....

+ external .sup and/or .ass subtitle support. Very basic feature on other media players and player apps (like KODI) since ages. Would be much convenient than always remux the whole videos before playback, just to have them with desired and well readable fonts displayed, as the HiMedia Players very basic subtitle fonts and customization are lacking these options (in case of external .srt).

So basically your just re naming the movie file to a .srt file, if I am correct, and remove the .mkv or .MP4 file

No.Leave the mkv as it is, and rename the srt file with the same name as the movie.eg avengers.mkv
                                                                                                                                                                         avengers.srt in the same folder

Ok thanks for that, so what your doing is basically renaming an extra .srt file to the same name as the movie file, but you will have 1 .srt file in the folder and a .mkv file in the folder but both under the same movie name.

Thanks
