What firmware version are you running on the Q5 Pro?

It's a funny error and I'd be looking at the router more than the Q5 Pro.

Try disabling security settings on the router (particularly MAC filtering and firewall). A security feature on the router could be being triggered by the Q5 Pro so the router cuts off the connection.

Also worth checking any anti-virus software on the network for firwall restrictions and give your Q5 a fixed IP address if not already done.

ok guys thanks for the advice, funny thing just happened.
I have 6 mapped folders all on the same server in basement, on the client (Q5) I have it Mapped as follows
Movies1
Movies2
Movies3
Movies5
Photos
Music

Now I clicked Movies  and I got the timeout error as described prior, then I went to Movies 2 and it worked, then movies 3it worked, back to movies1 and still no go,then movies4,photos,music all worked. They all worked fine, I then went back to Movies1 again and it started to work. I saved the log and will look at it soon.

Sure is strange as these are all on the same system, but before anyone thinks the drive was this issue 100%that is not it.

Still the same thing, it lasted a bit longer this time..

Ok let me ask this...

Is there anyone that hosts their media on a windows box and shares the folders over the network, and uses an Android tv box to connect to the shared folders over SMB?

Do you ever have any connection issues?

Did you fix the IP address of the player?  This is a common Windows network problem for printers and even  NAS drives if their IP is not fixed.  Allocate it from your router.
I do use Windows shares across multiple devices with no connection issues or dropouts.  It is quite likely your system or settings in Windows/firewall/anti-virus/router are giving you connection issues.

Ip's are all manually set and have been.  You say you share with multiple devices but it there and android device connecting to shared windows folders??

I have done this same setup for years without an issue however everything was windows to windows, the only difference now is that I swaped out 1 of the windows client box to this new android 1 and thats where the issues started..

I know if it was a windows box I would never have the issues as I know my way in and out of windows like the back of my hand, however android base I know the workings of it but nothing about is file system etc?

Is there limitations with it that anyone knows of, my shares are pretty big...

Yes, I am using a straight Windows 10 network.  I assume you have turned on SMB on the HiMedia (it does get switched off on each update)?
If you use File Explorer and go to Windows Network you should finds all your network connections including Android_B927C (or similar)?
If it is not showing, turn off firewall and anti-virus temporarily to see if this helps?  I had to make sure the IP address of my Q10 Pro was included in the local address range.

Once you find the Share, you can easily move files around, including to internal and USB attached HDD's.  Trial some large files to prove it all works?
If your communications from the network to the HiMedia is solid, you should then be fine for playback from the network (hopefully).

I can certainly play large high bitrate 40Gb+ HD 1080p 7.1 mkv movie files from my NAS's without any issues (which is why I purchased in the first place  :) )
Good luck, networks can be very frustrating.... (so can NAS drives).

I share folders from Win 7 SMB. The Q10 Pro can't find server via the "LAN Scan" nor KODI with "SMB Search". But manually giving the ip adress of the Win 7 PC and giving the folders name works both in Media Center and KODI. I have also tried every possible sharing setting in Win 7, but it still works only this way.

Strange however: My Android Tablet can scan and find automatic my  PC SMB share.
Stranger: I also share between two Win 7 PC-s and neither of the two can open any folders of the other PC's share. Despite they list the other Computer and the main shared folders under "network", but gives an error pop-up when accessing.

Still couldn't figure out if it's an OS, firewall or router problem, 'tho I have tried every possible solution I know. :-\

Yes the windows boxes always see the android box without fail, I did troubleshoot that prior to coming on here. Its ONLY the android seeing or connecting to the windows server.
Windows to Windows = good
windows to android    = good
android to windows   = some issues

A new bit of information I just found today is when ever I have the issue,  if I reboot the windows server AND the android box it works again. With this in mind, the windows clients are still working and it is still only the android box that is disconnecting. Just so people don't think its the server again..

Next time it happens, I will try to reboot the server and not the android box and see if it establishes connection again.

Mount81, yes I have this issues as well, and because my database is shared throughout the house and keep it in sync PROPERLY it needs the ip address.

I have similar issues before. What I did was untick allowed the computer to turn off this device in network adapter setting for windows 10
