When will there be an OTA update?
I'm still on HMD-1.08 2016-10-12.193826

1.08 fw is android 5.1, I doubt that you can get from that to android 7 fw via OTA update; you need to flash first an intermediate firmware and after that flash the android 7 fw; see first post for details and instructions.
For smaller updates like from 1.08 to 1.09 OTA should work, but I never got a chance to try.

Hi,
The 2 steps upgrade process worked fine but I couldn't sign into a google account and install apps an so on. I've tried also with the custom build and had the same problem. So at the end, I restored the 5.1 and everything went right. Thanks for giving the possibility to downgrade. I'll try later when another version will be available to upgrade to 7. But I've wasted more than half a day for nothing!

That's weird, I installed about 3 times the 2.0 fw and had no issues with login to Google account. Try not to use the on-screen keyboard, plug in a USB one just for the login. I had some issues on phones, it would not input the correct password no matter how carefully i was typing until I changed the keyboard app.

on this firmware with android 7, can I uninstall the Kodi 16.1 completely and instal the latest Kodi 17.0 RC2....since that has native HD audio passthrough, there should be no need for wrapper on it ?

You can; I have it but no dts from kodi for me. If you manage to get  passthrough from kodi 17 please share your settings.
edit:
you can install and use SPMC if you want 17 and 16 installed at the same time on the box

Are you in Android 7 firmware with Kodi 17 and still you don't see DTS passthrough option in audio settings ?

HD audio passthrough is broken on Android Kodi 17 for all platforms. It's a Kodi problem.

I have the optiom, it's enabled but it doesn't output the sound; I have to disable the passthrough and settle for 2.0 audio. Tested with local files (lan) and capable receiver.

I have just uninstalled the Wrapper to test Kodi 17 and passthrough and on my setup it isn't working, reinstalled Wrapper and it is fine.

HiMedia are looking at why it isn't working. Q5/Q10 Pro Android 7 FW meets the requirements so it should in theory work.

I tested this, just to get subtitles to work, but pass through of multichannel audio audio doesn't work.
So basically I just confirm the observation :-)

As of today (1/10/2017), soon after starting my Q10 Pro, I get the popup message "Himedia Package installer has stopped".  I then have to click "Close app" to make this message go away. I am running firmware 2.0.0 on Android 7. To exclude the possibility of a corrupted file, I reinstalled this firmware, using the upgrade button. The message still keeps popping up after every boot. Any suggestions about what could be going on here?

Edit: It is now eight hours later and the error message does not pop up anymore after a boot. I suppose that in the meantime some faulty background update package for the OS or for some default app must have been retracted or replaced...
