Has it happens I do own a 3D Blu-ray player which I haven't used for maybe 3 years..which I will try later thanks.

Okay Success tried my 3D Blu-ray player last night (even dragged my wife in too watch also) and can confirm NO Ghosting which proves the projector is okay and not faulty.  This only backups my hunch that the Himedia Player with certain equipment can cause ghosting.  I am sure Himedia need to do more test to solve the issue.

One thing I can confirm is that the issue is more present when viewing 3D material when the images come out of the screen.  I say this because most 3D films are in fact more like 3D Depth movies where the effect of 3D is like looking through a window into the film.  A good 3D movie when done to full affect has some of the objects appearing to come right out of the screen and into your Theatre/Sitting Room. This is exactly the type of 3D that is giving me a real problem.. I can also confirm that this issue was not present before updating to the latest firmware from January onwards.

Bulbs do get dimmer with age (at least certain types), doubt it would cause the ghosting though.

Hmm yes maybe you are right, tried using the projector brightness and contrast controls but it makes no difference at all.  Also the lamp hrs is only about 1200hrs which is well below the stated lamp life of 4000 hrs.

I did try changing the projector screen size settings from 110" to 80" and this seem to improve things vastly, however when I changed to another 3D film it was even worse so ended up back at 110" settings. Then I noticed something weird happen when changing the screen size followed by the depth settings the sides of the picture on screen shrank in to leave a 1 inch black border and the ghosting went completely....but when stopping the movie and restarting the screen was back to normal and the ghosting was back. Could there be an HDMI Over scan bug with the Q10 as its the only way I can explain this happening.  Also noticed that the Q10 displays a 3D logo in the corner when starting a film but its always very slightly off screen in the top left corner no matter what screen settings I use..

Watched a few 3d films last night and also found that the 3d performance is lacking. Tried sbs, OU and Bluray iso. Ghosting is random but definately present pretty much at some point during playback. Another issue i have found and this appears to b random but i found that on many titles there is a band of about -2 cm's on each side of the screen where the 3d is out of focus and significant ghosting which makes it very hard to watch 3d as you tend to get distracted by these out of focus parts of the screen. This is only happening on the himedia and not via any other 3d source.

An example of what i mean is attached. WHat im finding as well as random ghosting within the main image, is that the edges of the image get a very serious ghost as shown in the images attached. You can see what is a double line in the first image. When you see this its as if the edge of the screen is curving in 3d and is very hard to look at. Now i stress this issue comes and goes depending on each scene. So i dont know if it has something to do with objects on screen and how the player is interpretting the level of 3d depth. This is from Age of Ultron BD iso on a LG 60" 3d panel. 3d from any other source is flawless.

Hi Hazzad,

Yes I have very similar adverse effects on my 100" projector screen but had hoped that the new version of firmware 3.0.1 would have fixed this with the inclusion of the latest Himedia Ineternal Player version. However although this is implemented into the M3 firmware it seems to be lacking from the Q10 firmware and we are still stuck with the OLD version..

I have asked Futeko to check why ?  but have not received an answer yet.

Myself I am convinced the problem is something to do HDMI overscan interference by the player

Hi Futeko,

Can you please ask Himedia why the Q10 version of the HimediaVideoPlayer  (internal player used by the wrapper) is only 0706? release but the M3 (also by Himedia) is now 0826 release.

There seems to be a considerable difference in version numbers between the 2 mediaplayers and may be why we are still having considerable 3d play back problems on the Q10. As you can see from the amount of views and replies on the topic it has to be one of Himedia's top priorities to put right if they are to continue what is still undoubtedly be best 3D player to date..

Hi!

Can anyone confirm if the problem of ghosting 3D ISO was removed with the latest 3.0.1.1 firmware??

I am interested in this player, but I worry about the ghosting

Thanks!

Sorry for not addressing this last week. Busy at end of week.

Skype is down this morning (globally - first time I've ever known it to be) so I can't ask Himedia quickly why M3 himedia player app is later version. Have just tried installing M3 player app onto Q5 and it won't install, so maybe incompatible somehow. Better answer tomorrow.

I'll feed the ghosting info back to Himedia, although they have investigated it thoroughly since it first became an issue in the Spring. They can't find anything that might be causing it, and can't consistently reproduce the problem. Some users don't experience it at all whereas others get it a lot. hazzad's photo is interesting because it is solid evidence of a problem. It will be forwarded to Himedia.

Thanks Futeko.

I also tried installing the M3 player app onto my Q10 and found the same problem.

I remember when I first bought my Q10 (may have been one of the first to buy) after waiting for them to come in, I was over the moon with the overall quality including 3D playback which was 100% . So in my view they did have the playback on the Internal player spot on from the start, however since introducing the wrapper and other fixes they seem to have inadvertently lost the original settings for playback which is a shame.

Himedia say the new app will be in the next Q5/Q10 firmware. They won't tell me why it's not in 3.0.1 Q5/Q10.

I have forwarded the ghosting image to their technical team.

.

I have not tried the M3 with 3D so I'm not sure myself.

Okay managed to try 3D on my M3 via my tv in the lounge and saw very little ghosting so yes I guess the newest version of Himedia internal player is a big improvement
