3D Ghosting
« on: June 21, 2015, 03:54:47 PM »
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the new firmware for the Q10 seems to have introduced 3D ghosting on iso files that use framepacking.  I use a Sony amp and Epson 3D Projector..and until recently did not have this problem.

yes quote, from this release 1.0.9 there is a little problem of Ghosting/flickering with full 3d iso.
the q5 until 1.0.7 have very nice 3d playback( with some stutter ) the best player i have try much better PCH A400, 3d image was stable without Ghosting and flickering .
from 1.0.9 have perfect 23,976 playback 2d and 3d ,but with 3d when there is more action on movie ( fast moving ) there are Ghosting and flickering ,if there is white background is more visible.
it' very hard to explain  try to shot same photo:

see write "street ...... platform", with 3d glass are still  double

man in front of have tre face..,  with 3d glass have ghost face

ninja turtle have shadows still 3d glasses

Yes I agree when I first got my box I was raving to my family and friends how superb the himedia 3d playback was I even played a superb 3d clip I have where some of the objects come out the screen and dance right in front of your face with no ghosting. But now the same clip is not nearly as impressive as it was. It's as if all the tweaks in the new firmware has somehow lost some of the 3d quality.

So, the regular 1.0.9 remains best I guess as we have 23.976 and proper (no ghosting) 3D w/the key bug being playback of 3D ISO's starting at 720p (and having to manually switch to 1080p).

It could be possible that not knowing at the time about the 720p frame packing bug may have lead me to believe I was watching a poor 1080p film when in fact it was only 720p.  So yes maybe the ghosting has been introduced by fixing this bug in 1.0.9.1..

i not test use 3d with 1.0.8,because there is a bug .
I downgrade to 1.0.7 for see the difference and there is, not in all movie (i try 10 ) buy  in most of case you can see.

so :
1.0.7:
- 23.976 some stutter
- no  audio dropoff
- no 3d ghost
- lite flickering  ( fast moving sequences )

- 1.0.9.1:
- 23.976 no stutter
- some audio dropoff
- 3d ghost
- more flickering  ( fast moving sequences )

we hope
1.0.10:
- 23.976 no stutter
- no  audio dropoff
- no 3d ghost

PS no flickering i think impossible, only with new 48fps

looun what size screen do you use.  Would using a projector with 100" screen produce more noticeable ghosting when present.

I can confirm the issues in regard to 3D ghosting and audio drop outs in the latest firmware either.
