HiMedia Q10 4K3D media player / Sound + Subtitle problems
« on: March 30, 2015, 04:09:08 PM »
Hi,

I bought the above player from you and it is great, but I have a problem, I cannot seem to control subtitles on MKV files or the audio stream, so I mean switch between DD & DTS when the MKV file/film has them???

Could someone please advise if I am doing something wrong as pressing the button on remote has no affect at all???

Thanks

What video player are you using?

Using the HiMedia MediaPlayer app (icon in middle of launcher bar) if the MKV has subtitles (embedded or external) then the remote subtitle button (bottom left) should cycle between them. Similar with the remote audio button (remote bottom right). It should cycle between available audio tracks. You can get to more advanced subtitle and audio options using the remote menu button.

This definitely works with a couple of MKVs I've just tested it on.

Hi,

I am using the middle one and it is off upnp my network and then it breaks it down into folders off my WD NAS, in the preview screen I can see the subtitles but when I go to play the film with whole screen visible they do not show???

Thanks

Could be a problem with uPNP. I was testing using Samba networking.

I'll test again later.

Well I tested again last night and could not get anything to work via Samba, the only way I can connect my WD NAS is via uPnP and that is where the problem still lies with NO subtitles or sound tracks being able to change???

Subtitles and audio track switching are not supported in the HiMedia player over uPnP.

They work fine over Samba or NFS though.

A workaround for uPnP would be to use an alternative video player (e.g MX Player or Kodi/SPMC internal player) to play the files over uPnP. These players give all the subtitle/audio options. If you install a uPnP client like 'bubbleupnp' it will allow you to browse uPnP media servers and choose a player.

OK Thanks, will give this a try later :)

Right that has sorted my problems out as I downloaded bubbleupnp and then VLC Player and now can choose Audio streams and subtitles over Upnp  8)
