Thanx for your answer.
I installed both Firmwares completely new.
USB Stick, push the reset/update button on the back, pushing the ON/OFF of the remote and install the whole Firmware.

However, I am waiting for the upcoming Himedia Firmware 1.03 or however it is called.

With Custom Firmware in resolution 2160p / 60 can not be selected: YCBCr 422 10 bit or 420 10bit. With the original firmware, it could. (My tv permits, I checked).
In general, applications are better, but I had problems with Plex. With original firmware. With the original firmware, I closed the play store, youtube ...

I just got my Q10 pro yesterday.  Out of the box, it will not play 4k and audio is stuck at Pro Logic only.  I guess I need this custom firmware to fix all of that.

If I understand this correctly, I only need this custom firmware update to make everything work.  This means I do not need to manually install the Wrapper or anything else - is that correct?

Any other advice before I install this?

Update:  Installed and everything went ok.  I was able to fix the audio settings in KODI so DTS sounds is working again.  I'm getting great sound and this Q10 Pro is up-scaling my 1080p movies to 2160p, looks awesome!

playback of 4k movies with DTS sound is not working very good.

Can anyone tell me how to delete some of the default icons from the home screen?  For example, I don't need youtube on the home screen, so how can I get rid of it?

You should install wrapper for Kodi. At the moment you are using internal Kodi player which gives 5.1 sound max and lacks  some of the hardware video features of Q10 Pro. Wrapper install instructions here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=710.0

You can't get rid of icons, but you can change what apps they contain. Using the remote, press menu button when hovering over an icon. You'll be taken to the app menu where you can select an alternative.

I installed the custom firmware, which says it comes with Wrapper 3.6.  Are you saying I still need to manually install the wrapper on top of the custom firmware?  Or do I need to go back to stock firmware and then just add the Wrapper - which means I should not have used the custom firmware.  Please confirm.

Thank you!

Personally , I would hold off on custom firmwares for now until few more problems/bugs have been ironed out on the original shipping firmware.
We are expecting an official new firmware update any day now from Himedia (although the wait seems like an eternity)

Just keep an eye out @ http://www.himediatech.com/support.htm

Ok thank you, that is what I will do.  I have the wrapper, thank you.  I do not know what version my unit came with, but I found this pre release version  in the Firmware forum section:

HMD-1.0.1 2016-03-22.170326
Q10 PRO FIRMWARE 1.0.1-FUTEKO-EN. 21-APR-2016 (22-MAR BUILD)

With new firmware expected any day, I may just wait and go direct to that, assuming it is released in the next couple of days.

One question for audio settings to be sure I'm testing correctly.  I connect everything via HDMI.  My Receiver is (will be after this weekend) a Yamaha RX-A750BL 7.2-Channel.   Based on what I have read in these forums,  I should be selecting the follow settings:

HDMI: RAW
SPDIF: Close
HBR Output: 7.1

Is that the best settings?

Those 2 firmwares you mention are exactly the same and are infact what is shipped with the Q10 Pro on release.

The SPDIF setting doesnt matter if you are using HDMI to connect

Can we change what the Q10 Pro displays?  Mine showed a big bright clock, so I turned the display off.
