This is getting frustrating!!!!!
« on: May 23, 2016, 03:26:04 PM »
My Q10Pro arrived a week ago but I was unable to set it up until yesterday.
At first it seemed to go smoothly, picture quality looked great, wifi settings went in no problem, accounts were set up .....off we go.
Unfortunately in use it has turned out to be full of problems.
The `wrapper` it seems was not pre-installed, this being apparent after unsuccessfully trying to play my Dolby Atmos demo files via my Onkyo TX-NR3030 receiver. So I downloaded the wrapper but no matter how many times I tried to install (and was told it was successful) the wrapper would not direct Kodi correctly to the Himedia player. So I uninstalled Kodi 15.2 and updated to 16.1 and re-applied the wrapper. This still would not work.
So I did a factory reset from within the settings menu. However, upon completion, despite the Kodi icon being present on the `home` page, it was obvious that Kodi itself was not installed as clicking on it did nothing. So I factory reset again, same problem!. I installed Kodi via the Play store, applied the wrapper, went through absolutely every setting and eventually, after several hours managed to get things working, or so I thought.
There are two main reasons I bought this to replace my Mele PCG03.
1. The ability to set much higher sample rates for my high-res music files, I clearly remember setting 192khz (or whatever it said) when I originally set up the box, this option has now gone completely.
2. The ability to play Dolby Atmos files correctly.
But, despite several attempts at meticulously setting up Kodi with my addons and menus etc, each time I close Kodi it is losing its configuration settings and I have to do the whole thing over.....So very very frustrating.
Can anyone please suggest a solution?

First off when installing the wrapper you need to.

Run Kodi for 1st time
Kill the kodi task in task manager
Install wrapper
Run wrapper to install xml file in kodi
then run kodi

Without doing in that order you will have the problems you described.

And I would use the original Kodi 15.2.
Kodi 16.1 again and again has problems...  :-\

Do not do a factory reset, it will cause problems.

Instead reinstall firmware using reset button method. As here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=733.0

After that, install wrapper according to instructions here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=710.0

Over the last couple of hours I have tried both versions of the custom firmware but have now gone back to `stock`. Wrapper is installed, Dolby Atmos works but I cant find anywhere, in Kodi nor the box settings, the options to increase the sample rate. I swear they were their yesterday because I remember my old box only went to 48(?) and this one said 192....????

you can NTO  increase the sample rate, 99% of  bluray disc are usually 48hz Dolby true HD and DTS-HD, only Akira have Dolby True HD at 192hz.

Thank you, but it was the sample rate for music files I was referring to.

I have this morning loaded Kodi v17 and to be honest, it seems ok so far. The layout and skin are far nicer and there are lot more options to select. Also, the inbuilt onscreen keyboard is much much better.
