Kodi + Wrapper movies don't start
« on: May 12, 2016, 06:31:25 PM »
Hi to all,
I installed Wrapper when I try to start movies from Kodi nothing start. If the movie is an mkv and I click on poster nothing start, il the movie is an ISO and I click on the movie's poster I can see the menu but when I select a file nothing start. The only way to start movies is to select "Play Using..." and then "DVD player".

where am I doing wrong?

It sounds like there is a problem with how the wrapper is installed. I recommend reinstalling Kodi and wrapper.

To uninstall apps, go to apps menu, select app, and press remote menu key. Choose uninstall. Do this for both Kodi and wrapper.

After that reinstall Kodi first. I would recommend installing the version from Play Store as it is the latest and will auto update.

Then install wrapper according to these instructions: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=710.0

I uninstalled and reinstalled Kodi and Wrapper. Kodi is the new version 16.1.

Unfortunately the result is the same, no movies start on Kodi if I select start with "Wrapper", the movie start only if I select start with "Player".

I am getting the same error. And I have tried to uninstall and re-install. No change to error.
I also tried to do backup and that failed as it didnt have the right set of directories.

It feels like the latest Q10 sent was incomplete.

Futeko, are you able to send a zip file so we can simply restore it on the Q10 and have it all setup ?

thanks

The official firmware (1.0.1: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=733.0) only requires the installation of the wrapper, which is a single apk and press the button marked install. There is no alternative firmware with any further setup, sorry.

If you have the option to play using wrapper in Kodi then wrapper is probably set up correctly. So I think the problem might be something else.

Where are you playing the files from? Kodi+wrapper only supports (with a couple of exceptions - see below) local media and Samba shares without password protection. So could it be that the files you're trying to play are on a password protected Samba share?

There is a workaround for Samba shares with password, see here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=813.0

Hi,   just a thought does your Q10 Pro play the movies okay from outside Kodi?

My files are on a Synology NAS in a NFS share. I Think this is the problem. I will try a Samba share.

thank you all for the responses.

For me, the standard media player is able to play fine. And I am using NFS for both. I will reset for the third time tomorrow and see where we go wiht this. I will try NFS, local (HDD) and Samba Share for Wrapper and via stanard Media Player and report back

Ok reset my whole box and re-installed all.
I have the following file mounts
Win7 filesystes to Q10 Pro.  Samba (no password) and NFS.
Movies on each filesystem are avi, DVD-iso, mkv and BD folders that contain BDMV & Certificate with DVDFAb.miniiso emulating a BD-iso.

Results on Samba: avi, mkv, DVD-iso and BD (Dvdfab miniso) all play fine.
Results on NFS: avi, DVD-iso and mkv only play when I use the DVD-player, ie not the default player in the wrapper. I cant play the BD-iso at all as it will not give me the option of using the DVD-player menu dropdown.

Kodi Wrapper v/s default Media-Centre. I can play all the above including the BD-iso

So, basically the wrapper does not really work for NFS, especially BD-iso

Hello everyone,

I received yesterday my Q10 PRO and really tried to use without much success.

I own a LG 4K 55LA965V and therefore a pro Q10, whose connection is done via a HDMI sound bar Samsung HW-J450.

So now, last night I hasten to remove the old version of Isengard Kodi to put 16.1, whereupon I install the wrapper.

1. I try to read some ISO files first and already a problem arises with all the files I run

-> A popup opens with this "EXTERNAL DRIVE ACTIVE - Click" OK "at the end of reading." Normally popup to disappear very quickly just before the playback starts but for me, nothing starts and this popup rest until I press "OK". I return to my list of movies ....

2. Reading demo 4K files (LG_4K_Hongkong.mp4, Samsung_UHD_Dubai.ts among others) does not work at all

"VIDEO PROBLEM" - Confirm

3. 1080p 3D file playback does not work either, same message

"VIDEO PROBLEM" - Confirm

READING THESE 3 FILES TYPES WHEN I USE KODI  IS OK (Read with ... -> DVDPlayer) but 1080p@50 resolution since no adjustment is done and this is the resolution that the player offers me when I select the auto HDMI adapter). I tested with my drive in USB3 then I installed internally Q10. It does not change anything.

On the other hand, when my film launches are unsuccessful, a folder is created and replicated my sda1 folder in the root of the tree : loop5, loop6, loop7,...
(the content is completely identical to my original sda1). It disappears with each restart of the Q10.

Another problem when I try to read from SMB network, the HimediaVideoPlayer launches but only displays a black screen....

I tried an uninstall and a complete reinstallation of Kodi AND Wrapper (I tested the two existing versions (Wrapper-20160217 and Wrapper 1.0.1_HMD_0505_Release).

I try with direct HDMi link from the Q10 to my TV, no change

Another problem rather boring, my Bluetooth Headset Bluedio is not recognized by the Q10 .... it was perfect through my old KIII

I finally done a full hard reset and firmware reinstallation but nothing change at all, my problems persist

Thx for support

Reading  with the Wrapper is now OK !! Woah !!

So mark this well to all those who have the message " video problem - Confirm" when playing certain files and then "press " OK " at the end of reading " and nothing happens :

In my case , files that do not want to launch were in directories named

# 3D
# 4K
#ISO

A renaming immediately solved my problems

3D
4K
ISO

DO NOT have special characters in your directory tree , it is a good chance for the worries come from there. It is at least worth exploring .

Thanks for reporting. It will be reported to Himedia. Should be easily fixed.
