Increase system memory, is this possible?
« on: March 07, 2015, 07:38:51 AM »
My PCG03 is primarily used as a htpc with both Plex and XBMC, and with this as the base (and my files on a usb hdd) I then stream (via Plex) to my two android boxes in other rooms. Unfortunately after about 10-15 minutes I start to get buffering which quickly repeats and repeats. Direct play on the PCG03 is fine. I am wondering if the memory is causing the problem when transcoding or is it likely to be the processor speed? If it is the memory, and because I don't intend to load any more apps/programs, is there any way to allocate more of the emmc memory to the system instead of to storage?
I hope that made sense?

Reallocating memory in the way you describe is not possible. Playing files direct on the PCG03 uses the graphic hardware, which is optimised for HD video. Transcoding would use the CPU, which is general purpose. Transcoding HD video will need a faster CPU.
