To reinstall Windows 8.1 you will need to download the installation image file.

Hi.. Tried accessing the BIOS page as you described but the Mele just keeps booting into the log in screen.

This is from a cold power up with USB keyboard connected.

I'm starting to wonder if my Mele has some sort of USB fault as my USB docking station works initially, and then all of a sudden the drive letters disappear.

There is a bug in device firmware which you have to turn on device twice on the power switch.

Confirmed by mele on forum.

Try it without your USB hub. Pressing F7 after a reboot definitely works to get to BIOS settings.

The problem with your USB hub is not something that we've had any other customers report problems with, so it might be a problem with that particular hub. I see your post on the Mele forum about it. Mele are slowly returning to work after Chinese New Year and may be able to give you a better answer later in the week.

I removed your second post on this thread about the USB dock. It was off topic for the thread and there's no way to move posts to the correct thread. Please keep to topic.

Finally managed to download the recovery zip from the email you sent me, so thank you . (no instructions in the email though so followed the ones on the Mele forum). The process took quite some time to complete and I was worried at one point that it had stalled but it hadn't.
All appears to have gone well.

Cheers

Chris

Mele have just posted a Mega link on their forum for a download of the reinstallation files. The file is about 300mb bigger than the one you previously supplied. Any ideas what the differences are?

Cheers

The contents of the downloads are exactly the same. It seems the difference is how they were compressed, the futeko download is a zip (we repackaged it) and the mele one a rar archive. That the rar is bigger does surprise me though, usually rar compresses smaller than zip.

Our customers can use either. The Mele download is available here: http://forum.mele.cn/showthread.php?tid=17

Just in case the Mele one goes down. Customers can use either.
