Just setup my Q10 Pro after taking out my trusty Bluetimes realtek 1186 unit and I have no sound at all from any digital outputs.
No sound from Kodi GUI sounds, volume is up on the Panasonic Viera Plasma and android.
I've tried setting the HDMI output from Auto (default) to LPCM and RAW but nothing - no sound at all.
I have tried several movies which I know work just fine using my old realtek 1186 box in DTS and DD but not a squeak from the Q10 Pro???

Has anyone any advice on what might be the problem?
I have factory reset the box once and I did install the correct wrapper fpr Kodi to use the Himedia player.  After factory reset I still have no sound output even without the Himedia player being used (Kodi media player has no sound either)

What could it be.....

What firmware version is installed? Settings - About.

If you're getting no sound at all then it's a system problem and not related to any specific file format.

Go Settings - More - Sound.

Volumes - Should be pushed to the right edge (100%).
HDMI Output - LPCM (most compatible - change to RAW if you get sound and your TV supports RAW HD-Audio streams)
SPDIF Output - Close (doesn't really matter if not being used but if not being used close is best)
HBR Degrade Output - RAW 5.1 (most compatible - set to auto if you get sound).

After that, try playing a stereo video clip or simple music file using the HiMedia 'Media Center' app from home screen. Any luck?

Hi

Firmware is HMD-1.01 2016-03.22170326
Unit was from first preorder arrived in good time here in Malta.

No joy with those settings not a sound, if I switch to my Bluetimes BT3550 player it works fine using the same cables.

Could the box need a reflash it seems like the sound side of things is completely broken.

Thanks
Rod

It would be a very unusual hardware fault for video to be normal but audio to be silent.

Are you using the cable that came in the Q10 box? If not give that a try.

Firmware is latest, so that's OK.

We don't have a copy of shipping firmware yet, promised later this week (probably tomorrow), but you can give reinstalling a go once we have it. We'll post the firmware as a sticky topic on this forum.

Tried the cable that came with the box, no change :(

It's a Panasonic Viera VT50 55" had no problems with my VU+Solo2 linux box playing through it and my BT3550 linux/android media player.
Also have Minix X8h Plus and Amazon Firestick all work fine on sound.

Have to say that the picture quality of the Q10 Pro is by far the best I've seen on my plasma - much sharper and more colour depth than the Bluetimes Realtek BT3550 (1080p 10 bit).  The Realtek player looks as good as my Philips bluray player, so looks good.  Minix x8h Plus and Fire TV Stick both look washed out and flat in comparison.

Lets hope a reflash works to solve this no sound issue, because I really want to start using the Q10 Pro as my everyday playback device.

Thanks for the help

I hope the reflash fixes it too. Exactly the cause of the problem baffles me.

If not then we can replace from stock, but it's going to take a while because of your location.

Many of the 'despatched 15th to non-UK Europe' Q10 Pros are getting to customers today. 3 working days to Europe is pretty good for Royal Mail.

Thanks for posting the firmware.

Just reflashed the Q10 Pro, on first opening of Kodi without installing the wrapper I got sound on the TV on the navigation through Kodi sections!  Brilliant I thought.
I tried a movie using Kodi built in player and I got sound through the TV, great.  Tried my Denon A1SE receiver and got Dolby pro logic sound so I enabled passthrough on the sound menu to try to get DTS but this didn't work only achieved Dolby pro logic. (I did tick the relevant box in the settings menu for DTS in Kodi)  I also couldn't get any 24p frame rate switching to work.

Time for the Himedia wrapper install, on doing this I now get no sound at all.  Not even navigation sounds through Kodi and no 24p frame rate switching.

What could be happening?

Thanks for the help

Installing the wrapper only writes one file to a Kodi setup directory affecting calling an external player when video is played in Kodi, it wouldn't make any difference to nav sounds in Kodi.

Denon A1SE is a fairly old AV amp. I don't think it has HDMI inputs. So you're using SPDIF? In your opening post you said you were using a Panasonic Viera Plasma, how was this connected to the Q10 Pro?

For the Denon connected via SPDIF playback settings should be 'HDMI Output: Close', 'SPDIF Output: RAW', 'HBR Output: RAW5.1'. If you play a simple video file (e.g. 1080p DTS or AC3) through the HiMedia app (Home - Media Center) do you get sound?

For the Pansonic TV, set the playback option to 'HDMI Output: LPCM'. If you play a simple video file (e.g. 1080p DTS or AC3) through the HiMedia app (Home - Media Center) do you get sound?

I've reflashed again and without installing the wrapper and leaving everything untouched I get sound from the Panasonic Viera (2012) TV via HDMI.
Playing a movie with the Himedia Media Player via SPDIF to the Denon I  get DTS and Dolby Digital sound, but after switching 24p switching on no 24p just 1080p/60hz playing a movie, which I know is 24p.

As soon as I install the wrapper the sound stops working completely.  I realise the wrapper is just a simple shortcut file but it seems to break something. 24p is not working for all movies except 3D-ISO movies using the Himedia Player.

I've tried reflashing this twice just to be sure and redownloading and installing the Wrapper file in case something was wrong with that but as you stated its just a shortcut file and it does work in Kodi to use the Himedia player as default.

So to recap I have the Q10 Pro playing sound DTS/Dolby Digital now after a reflash using the Himedia player but not being able to use Kodi and I can't get 24p switching to work on 2D movies. But if I install the wrapper I then get no sound at all! The only way to get sound back is to reflash.

My daughter is watching a movie at the moment so I haven't tried sound from a DTS/DD movie through the TV yet, I'll try later.

How can I be going wrong, I really need the Kodi/Himedia player functionality and 24p switching?

Being dealt with by email.

The cause of the problem is undetermined so we have offered to accept the item back for testing and potential replacement/refund.
