The keep aspect ratio setting only work properly if the movies are 3840 x 2160 or 1920 x 1080 video format. This is 16:9 video format. But movies will come with different aspect ratio like 1.85:1, 2.39:1 or 2.4:1. They are 3840 x 1600 or 1920 x 800. These movie will play as 3840 x 2160 or 1920 x 1080 that means the picture will have taller picture. Whatever they are 4K or FHD that will be the same as people reported. Use Mediainfo to check the aspect ratio then you will know the difference.

For TrueHD Atmos, some pirate movie does not come with AC3 or DD/DD+ track. It is why the player does not play audio. I don't blame on this. But Dolby said if a TrueHD Atmos play on a not Atmos compatible device, if it supports DD+, it will backward compatible to play 5.1 rather than 7.1. If I do not understand correctly. Q10/Q5 Pro should play Atmos track without AC3 embedded.

Hi Charles,

refering to you pictures i have another strange experience. I tried out the following hdr demo files:

http://hdrsamples.com/life-of-pi-4k-uhd-hdr-sample-footage/
http://hdrsamples.com/**-4k-uhd-hdr-sample-footage/

and they are distorted in diagonal direction in a very strange way. Is this something known? Can you perhaps link the video that you mentioned?  and what settings on aspect ratio and so on you defined. Currently i have issues to verify if my new Q10pro works fine on HDR files.

Pls feel free to post other hdr demos <= 30 fps that you validated to be working

Best regards, Holger

Well mate it seems that you are to only one with this error. Everyone else has this error only with 4K + HDR and not with FHD or 4K without HDR.

All the 1920x800 res videos playing with proper aspect ratio (with black bars) if "Keep ratio" option is selected, nothing is stretched for me with HiMedia Player as well. Make sure to check if you video isn't HDR.

Update from HiMedia.

- The firmware due to be released this week will now be next week.
- There will be another update a couple of weeks later that will fix the HDR aspect ratio problems. It will contain HiSIlicon fixes.

Changelog for next week:

1. some apps not working on ethernet issue fixed
2. some ASS special effect subtitles supported
3. compatibility issue of some routers fixed
4. some posters not fully displaying issue fixed
5. the video player sometimes stop runing issue fixed
6. the system crash caused by DATA patition read-only issue fixed
7. some apps at home page stop running issue fixed
8. media center updated, media center stop running issue fixed
9. video player updated bring more friendly UI and smooth operaon
10. system file manager optimized bring a simple and brief file list
11. HD playback optimized bring many useful functions
12. online playback optimized, some apps online playback issue fixed
13. system local playback optimized, some BT2020 movie playback color interference issue fixed

Thanks Futeko. And what about the subtitle issue downloading only for english using the wrapper? Can you ask Himedia if they can include that? Also it would be useful to have the subtitle delay function "+/-" longer than 10 seconds, for movies with not many subtitles.

Thanks!

Puffs 2, , patriots days, inferno , la la land.

Hi Newbie,

The files shown 3840 x 2160 at Mediainfo and should not distort. I never experience the problem you mentioned. May be caused by different problem your player has or the files has problem. Is this the only files have problem?

The problem I found was from a file shown 720 x 400 on Mediainfo. I have downloaded another file at 1920 x 1080 and Himedia player play correctly. If you have no problem then this is my problem only may be.

You may download this file to try. It rips in AVC codec and shown 1280 x 544 (2.35 : 1) at Mediainfo. If you play this file on computer at window mode, it will not show black bar on top and bottom unless you play in full screen.

A few MB sample would have been enough.  ;D

But black bars present with HiMedia Player and it plays in the correct aspect ratio:

Thank you. I will try it tonight. This is not the same file with stretch before. I deleted long time  ago. May be play on early firmware. I just remember that it is a Top Gun MP4 file.
