It all must also work fine in Kodi player, that's why a mediaplayer is for, not that you have to use different players!
Video and audio in Kodi 17 work fine on most mediaplayers, so  HiMedia have to fix this too!

I repeat: the only thing you have to do is set in wrapper app to use HiMedia player, after that you can use KODI and audio will work. The other players you mention are not even close in quality, audio output options and support. Previously whenever I bought some cheaper android player the firmware it came never ever got updated. It is very rare to see this support where you get firmware updates every 1-2 months and for me main issues of picture and audio have been solved. Of course it is not perfect, but I trust newer firmwares will keep on coming and main issues will be addressed.

So install Kodi 17, set in wrapper app to use wrapper, that is all that is needed for smooth stable Kodi 17 experience?

Not here it isn't...

I don 't know if it will be "smooth" or "stable" , all I am saying is if you want audio pass through to work within KODI you must set wrapper to Himedia player.
I myself almost always use the Himedia Player for all my movies so I haven't used KODI 17 well enough to know if it is smooth or stable.

How about the subtitles and wrapper, I use the possibilities of Kodi for  subtitles which is  often synchronize.
How does this all work  with wrapper?

You download the official firmware and you take the same steps you did when you flashed the custom firmware. You will lose all settings, better back up what you can.

Unfortunately if you use the wrapper then Kodi will be not much more than a bloated file browser. At least none of the features I use Kodi for works. If you don't use the wrapper you will get mediocre sound and image quality.

Video picture quality is the same using Kodi internal player and HiMediaplayer (wrapper) with Imprex enhancement turned off. Imprex is not essential and many people prefer as little messing with the image as possible. Picture quality with Imprex off or via Kodi player is excellent.

For multi-channel sound you need to use wrapper.

Kodi can be set up (and Kodi 16.1 is pre-installed this way) to use wrapper for local files and Kodi player for streams. So streaming add-ons should work. For Kodi 17 see here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=710.msg13417#msg13417

Subtitles are a little messy with wrapper at the moment (on Android 17 sub timing adjustment causes stutter and sub gap timing is too strict losing some subs). These issues are being looked at by HiMedia and will be fixed.

Hmm... Are you 100% sure about that?! As far as I know KODI Palyer also uses it's own software method for video decoding, rendering just like the HiPlayer does it's own, and for that they're wouldn't be identical in many ways... What makes you state this so surely, or am I missing something?! ???

92% sure. HiMediaplayer and Kodi use OMX HiSilicon decoding for most file formats. The image should be the same.

Ok, thank you!
I notice about the subtitles with wrapper, the subtitle still lagging behind to keep you sync, which is very annoying.
I hope HiMedia will fix this soon, because the HD sound is not working in Kodi player.

I expect both the subtitle timings problem and HD-Audio in Kodi 17 to be fixed fairly quickly.

No, it's not. The color space (not sure if that is the correct expression) is much lower when using Kodi. The result is that the dark shades disappear and there is only black where there should be details in darker parts of the image. It is very easy to see when using the test patterns of a Blu-ray like Spears & Munsil because most of the boxes with different shades of gray that is used for configuring contrast and brightness just aren't there. They show correctly using the HiMedia player.

I'm probably missing something basic but whenever I use the wrapper it starts the movie in a zoomed/stretched format. Like when I play it using the built in Kodi player there are black bars on the top and bottom. When I play it with the wrapper it zooms in so there are no black bars. I went into the wrapper settings and tried all the different modes but could never get it to play normal.

Is there a setting in Kodi itself that I'm missing? I'm not crazy about the black bars but when it's stretched it seems to cut off the edges of the video. I just can't figure out why the Kodi players plays the file fine but the wrapper zoom/stretches it.
