Wrapper needed or Custom-Kodi?

Hi futeko,

have HiMedia told you something about plans to use a wrapper as in Q5/Q10 4K3D or to use a custom Kodi with build in hardware acceleration as in H8 octa without the need for a wrapper?
If not, can you please ask them about their plans.

Initially I expect a wrapper based solution. It's quicker to implement and offers all chipset features from Kodi.

Work is being done to get full hardware support into vanilla Kodi, so hopefully it will come later.

That's all speculation. More solid info as we receive it from Himedia after CNY (end Feb).

I would also prefer/appreciate the Costum Kodi version without a wrapper because the Himedia Player has a very simple/bad "navigation".

Longer term there is work being done to make custom Kodi (or better vaniall Kodi with support integrated) with support for all HiMedia/HiSilicon features (7.1, image processing, 3D-ISO) but this is a big project and will have to involve Kodi devs.

In the short term a wrapper solution gives all HiMedia/HiSilicon features from within Kodi.
