Zidoo Z1000 Pro - Musicplayer & Scanning
« on: May 05, 2023, 03:25:28 PM »
Hi all!

First of all: I'm new to this forum and originate from Germany. :) I tried to find a solution to my question(s) myself, but...well, couldn't find any. So here we go. Hopefully one of you can help me. :)

I recently replaced my "HiMedia Q10 Pro" with a "Zidoo Z1000 Pro"  and of course it took me a few hours of trial and error until I knew how to deal with the video-library. But now it works perfectly and I'm happy with it.

My questions are about the musicplayer of the Z1000 Pro. I have a seriously large audiolibrary (~150k files) and each file is tagged correctly - scanning the tags works perfectly, all artists and songs are displayed as they should, anyway I have a few things I couldn't find a solution to:

How to (correctly) update the music library?
As you might imagine, the initial scan of 150k files took a few hours to complete. Anyway, when I added a single file after that scan, the musicplayer gave me just two options: "Rescan" or "Update" (I use the German interface, so I cannot guarantee I wrote those options correctly here). If I check "Rescan", the player deletes the current database and starts the initial scan again. However, if I use "Update", the player goes through each single file again in order to find that single new one...but in the speed of a dying sloth. It again took hours...no: Ages!  ::) Of course I know how this works, but KODI on my old Q10 Pro just needed a few minutes for this update-scan, so I was a little shocked when it took hours again. Am I missing something here? Can I improve update-scanning-speed? I think I read something about "saving the db locally", but cannot find it anymore.

Format/name of "Artist Covers"
As I happily saw, Zidoo Musicplayer also downloads a picture of the artist and uses it as a cover. So when I choose "Artists" in the player, I see that picture and the name of the artist below. Anyway, on my HiMedia I had manually added logos of each artist to the artist-"rootfolder" (each named "thumb.jpg"). Since many artists in my collection are underground, no pictures are found online by Zidoo. Of course, I can manually add them using the "change cover"-option. But the complete navigation to that file takes aeons again and if I did this for thousands of artists, it would probably take the rest of my life. So my question is: Do these artist-covers have a certain format or name? I could simply do a batch-renaming and do one more initial scan then.

I'd be truly grateful if someone could help me out with these two things...THANKS a lot!

Info here about naming conventions for Zidoo Music Player: http://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?threads/how-to-tag-and-structure-music-collection-for-mp.91886/

The database update speed cannot be improved at the moment. 150K is quite a large library but I'm sure there are many users with similar or larger. I will ask Zidoo if this area of the software can be improved.
