Hi, I have read a few post on here about hdd issue with Himedia Q10 but no luck, so hope you guys can help me out.

I tried Seagate 4tb model ST4000DM000, format either GPT or MBR, either with NTFS or Xfat (something like that), Himedia didn't recognize, I open the case to confirm the hdd spin, check storage in setting, didn't show. Check hdd status in media player and kodi, didn't show. When the box was on, I connect the usb to my PC (Window 8.1 pro), and I saw the hdd showed in my computer under Manage not on my computer

Same thing with WD 3TB model WD30EFRX (NASware).

My Himedia Q10 has latest firmware 3.0.3 (Dec 15 2015)

*** I am out of option and hope I can seek for your help *** thanks in advance. :-\

Thanks I already read those post at least 3 times before I make this post, still no luck. My next plan is buy another hdd WD green model, or get another box to see if my current box is defective.

Hello

I have the same problem, I've tried everything

Formatting on both Mac and Windows in various formats didn't help either.

The q10 can detect the WD 3TB via USB, but not when I insert it into the q10 itself.

What to do? exchange item?

I'm guessing that your problem is not how you format your drives. The problem seems to be the sector size. The Q10Quad only recognices internal drives with 512 bytes sector size. Your drives both have a sektor size of 4k bytes.

I took the hard drive out and format as ExFAT with 512kb allocation size unit, NTFS doesn't give me that option. Still no luck. 80% I don't think my 4TB Seagate hdd and 3TB WD hdd have issue, the way I format shouldn't be a problem because I saw many user format NTFS either with MBR or GPT and still work. I think something wrong with my firmware on the Himedia Q10. I purchased the box on aliexpress. Already tried Futeko firmware, himediatech.com firmware, still no luck. My box has international firmware which has Play Store and You Tube both working.

So you are saying both of my hdd not compatible with Himedia Q10? Does anyone have a list or compatible chart of hard drive for Himedia Q10? Thanks. I'll buy one and try out today to see if it fix my problem, thanks.

http://www.android-mediaplayer.de/index.php/Thread/2134-Welche-Festplatte-mit-welchen-Format-l%C3%A4uft-mit-Himedia-Q10/

It's German, but it should be easy to understand the list. It shows known compatible drives.

Good news, I got mine fixed and Himedia Q10 work on both of my drive now :)

Below is what I did
1/ Put the hdd in PC, delete volume, NO FORMAT
2/ Take the hdd put in Q10, and use it as hdd enclosure, turn on and connect through USB with PC
3/ Under computer management, the drive showed as "GPT Protective partition"
4/ *** This step is important ***
Open command prompt type diskpart > Enter > type list disk > Enter > Select the hdd (I notify mine by size, otherwise you have to go to computer management to check which disk #)
So the command will be: select disk 2 > Enter (Mine is disk # 2)
    Type: clean > enter
Once that is done, go back to computer management to make sure the "GPT protective partion" disappear
Select the disk in computer management and format (I tested with 2 of my hdd 4TB Seagate and 3TB WD, I pick RMB for one and RPT for other using NTFS)
Once it done, you should be able to drag and drop file to the drive itself, and the speed for me is around 155MB/s
5/ Once I copy a test file, I turn off the Q10 and turn it back on ( Make sure you turn off the Q10 and turn it back on) > I went to ES File Explorer and VOILA the drive showed and the test file show in there too.
6/  I test open with media player and kodi, both work fine. Only minor issue I think from Kodi was it can't play .vob for some reason. But other than that, both drive work now :)

7/  I tried to took the hdd out of Q10 and connect to my PC, it showed 2 partition (I think it just minor issue, but I'll test to copy large file using that way to see if it work and recognize by Q10)

*** Hope my instruction is clear and able to help other that have same problem as me ***
