First make sure you have the latest firmware installed. Early firmware had some issues with LG TVs which are now resolved:

Leaving the settings on Auto should give a good result. Beyond that it depends on what you want to achieve. I guess the thread you refer to is this one:

The thread contains excellent information and I won't repeat it here in detail.
In general:
- Display, HMDI Mode: Auto
- Display, Colour settings: Leave as they are unless you have a specific requirement.
- Display, HDR: Auto. The many settings are to set the box to output various formats via Dolby Vision VS10 if you prefer. If you want HDR10 output as HDR10 and Dolby Vision output as Dolby Vision then Auto is best.
- Playback, Frame-Rate Switch, Frame rate mode: This changes how content at a different resolution / refresh rate to the current box HDMI output setting is shown. With it off the box HDMI refresh/resolution does not change and the content is scaled to output resolution. With Only Frame-rate selected the HDMI refresh rate is changed to match the content (e.g. 23.976fps content at 23.976Hz and 60fps content at 60Hz). With Resolution selected additionally the box HDMI output resolution changes to match video content (e.g. 1080p at 1080p and 4K at 4K). My recommendation would be to have both turned on.
