I received my new player from Futeko last week and was first happy to set it up. When I found that HD audio decoding to LPCM 5.1 (or 7.1) don't work I was pretty disappointed. I've sent an e-mail to Dune support, but no reply yet.

Earlier tonight I found a post on AVSForum where another person have similar issues when using bitstream. My post on that forum can be found here: https://www.avsforum.com/threads/dune-hd-pro-vision-4k-solo.3180599/page-8#post-60523792

Here is a quote of my post:

This is a very interesting post for me! I just signed up to this forum because I received my Vision 4K Solo last week (from Futeko) and I also have audio problems.

I have a legacy pre-amp (Meridian G68ADV+HD621) that can't decode any HD audio. Since 2014 I've used a Dune HD Max set to decode HD audio and send out as LPCM 7.1. This has been working great at all time. All BD's are ripped to BDMV and I use My Movies on server and app for control.

Now I felt like starting to prepare for a new projector and perhaps immersive audio and liked to start with the player. Before order I asked Dune support if it could decode HD audio and send out as LPCM 7.1, and the answer was positive.

When I got the new player all went well with installation and it's faster than my old HD Max. I made sure that it was set to decode audio, but the disappointment came when I tried to play movies with this kind of audio...
If the audio track is DTS HD Master or Dolby Digital True HD my pre-amp only receives LPCM 2.0.
If there is an audio track with LPCM 5.1 I get six channel audio and the processor switches to Cinema.

If there is a legacy DD or DTS audio track I also only get LPCM 2.0, Then I can turn of decode in Dune player, as my pre-amp can decode these formats, but of course I like to be able to play HD audio in all channels.

I've checked all the settings over and over again, also Realtek settings, but it's set to decode and Multi channel PCM. I've also sent a question concerning this to Dune support, but still no reply.

I assumed this was only related to decoded audio, but after reading the post of xtrips I start to wonder if the problem is something else?

Warning! This player can't decode multi-channel audio and send out as LPCM 7.1.

Hello Erik,

1. About multichannel decoding of Dolby / DTS audio formats to PCM.
We are very sorry, it was a mistake/misunderstanding in the previous communication.
When playing any Dolby / DTS audio format (including HD audio formats),
you can get multichannel (e.g. 7.1) audio, but for this you need to use bitstream passthrough mode and decode the audio externally on the AVR side (on AVR, on TV, on soundbar, etc);
when decoding such audio format on the player side, you can only get 2.0 PCM output (this is so in all Dune HD media player models produced on the new chipsets during last several years; this is the license and chipset limitation of the user media processors from Realtek; all other media players based on these media processors have the same limitations; decoding to 7.1 on the player side was only possible on very old models based on Sigma chipset).
(Please also note that multichannel decoding of Dolby / DTS formats on the player side is bad idea in general, because external equipment such as AVR can always do it better than the media player, by taking much more settings and parameters into account.)
Sorry again for miscommunication here.

2. About other notes on AVSForum (bitstream passthrough of some formats not working), it seems they are about a different issue, not related to your issue.
There is known solution for this issue:
If there is a problem that bitstream passthrough of some audio format does not work, it is known that the following 3-party patch can help:

Best regards,
Dune HD support team.

I just bought an expansive door stop!

Thanks for clarifying this for future customers.

We have never claimed the new Realtek 1619 products can decode multi-channel audio inside a video container and output it as multi-channel LPCM.

No media player does this. You need a real disc BD player for such a feature as those include licenses for that.

No, no one here at Futeko have claimed so, but Dune support has:

December 5 I sent this question to Dune support:

Hi, I consider to replace my HD Max with a new player. For HD Max it's stated in the description that it can "decode to LPCM (up to 7.1 channels)". When I read about new models LPCM is mentioned, but not how many channels. I remember that some of the older smaller models only were LPCM 2.0. So, what new models can decode Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio to LPCM 7.1 and send out on HDMI? Best regards, Erik Nystrom Sweden

Hello,
We would like to recommend our new devices Pro 4K II and Pro 4K Plus II.
I replied:

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I’m considering one of these models, when they are available.

Will they decode Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio and send out on HDMI as LPCM 7.1?
Then I received this:

Hello,
Sorry for the late reply. Pro 4K II and Pro 4K Plus II can decode Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio and send out on HDMI as LPCM 7.1.
Pro 4K Plus II can be purchased from our online store dune-hd.com. Pro 4K II will go on sale in 1-2 weeks. Also, all of these devices will soon go on sale on Amazon.
I don't understand how this could be misunderstood. I don't know what different chipsets can do. I'm buying a complete product and I asked if it could do what I asked for.

@Nice Monkey
Yes, some BD-players can do that, and also the old Dune HD Max I intended to replace with something more modern.
My ATV 4K also sends out multi-channel PCM, but it can't play BD-menus and be integrated with My Movies like the Dune player.
