Dune HD are developing a new GUI for their players.

It will serve as a front-end for for My Collection with integrated support for streaming apps. The interface will be of modern Netflix-like design with improved media scraping, TV show support and more.

This thread is for discussion of the new interface. The above link offers Alpha firmware versions with the new GUI. Use these at your own risk as with other Dune Alpha firmwares. We will try and keep the list of links below updated but the link above is the place to look for latest versions.

Dune are looking for feedback on this new GUI.

Something seems to be in the workx for it but a new GUI (old still configurable) seems to come first?
I think I will be getting an internal Alpha for that.

A general new Beta with several fixes included (some mentioned in the review) is imminent.
The subtitle location fix discussed here in detail is included for sure.

Added: DVD's always are played with DVD Menu's but include external subtitle support with that.

Nope. To be honest didn't hear anything from them at all recently. Must be very busy.
I expect something big(ger) to come soon.

Yeah looking promising. The only problem I have with it is the word "soon" used. I learned over time the hard way that "soon" in chinese is not the equivalent from imminent (=in a few days) it is more an intention and statement that it is being worked on. Inpractice it can be any amount of time being days, weeks even months.

An Alpha will come probably english soon, but a final release? I wonder why Dune does not general release more Beta versions. The last few Alpha's I got from them were really good and fixed several problems.

In contrary to with Zidoo installing Alpha versions is pretty safe and easy with Dune. If you don't like them then just reinstall any previous version! They are typically also very stable with hardly any faults for things that worked correctly before. You might want to consider this as the frequency of even Beta releases is low compared with e.g. Zidoo.

This is the one with the new GUI partially implemented. To answer the question: yes I installed it myself.

It offers what is claimed by Dune as far I saw thus far.
But this one is a real Alpha FW. Install it if you are curious and above all if you are willing to report to Dune. Music Player plays but just shows a black screen. Personally I went back!

Warning: fixes included with:

Are NOT included. That is also an Alpha but very stable and again used by me now.

Good work from Dune pushing ahead with the new media browsing interface.

The competition between Dune and Zidoo right now is resulting in very fast firmware development from both.

It's of massive benefit to both company's products.
