My view of the UHD3000 so far
« on: February 02, 2021, 02:05:23 AM »
I have played around with my UHD3000 for one day and these are the problems I have found so far.

It can't handle any streaming services app. It might start playing but the decoding looks horrible and then crashing.

Some apps are crashing all the time.

Installing D+ streaming app make the app page corrupt so you can't access it.

It wont play my ts file with the following spec inside default player only in MX Player Pro, 1920x1080i 25fps AVC High422 L4.1 BT.709 8bit.

Some apps start in portrait mode before chaning to landscape.

The Zidoo v9 Air Mouse work mostly but in some places you can't click with the mouse coursor.

In the Dolphine browser you can't press and drag to scroll on a webpage with the air mouse. And if you just use the up and down buttons you can get stuck in a typing field and the keyboard comes up on your screen.

Very dissapointed so far, if the player can't handle a streaming app like Hulu and cost a $1000 why would you even consider buying it? Other cheap brands do it alot better. I have a HiMedia Q10 Pro and been using it for years now and it have handled almost every thing perfectly. The reason I wanted to upgrade was because the Q10 Pro started to be slow.

The box costs $1000 because it has a high end and expensive DAC together with the same outstanding local video playback you get with all the latest Zidoo players. It produces audio and video quality better than anything else you can buy right now.

It's not really designed for streaming apps like Hulu which you can use in excellent quality on a £30 Fire TV stick. Zidoo do try and get as many of the streaming apps working well as possible but these apps tend to restrict the hardware they work on to push sales of specific hardware (Amazon, Google). If you email Zidoo or post on their forum they will look at the apps that you say don't work.

Please either send us a sample of the ts that won't play or post a sample on Zidoo's forum.

I bought the UHD 3000 to interface with my massive dvd and music collection. I have probably 20,000 albums and 2200 movies stored on an external hard drive. For movies, it’s FANTASTIC
and is like having my own personal Netflix for movies that I like.

For my music collection, the interface has been somewhat cumbersome and cannot approach the ergonomics of a media player such as JRIVER. The organization of meta data, and in particular, genre
is lacking.  I hope Zidoo continues to refine its software.

Another issue that I’m trying to work through it the apparent 10 tb HDD limit.

That said, what I find puzzling is all the complaints about its streaming capabilities.  It’s like saying “I bought this hammer and it makes a lousy screw driver.”  My TV streams, my Xbox streams, my Blu-ray player streams. One does not buy the Zidoo for streaming.
