Regarding Kodi 15.2 (Final) for Rockchip 3368 & H8 Octa 1.0.7
« on: December 31, 2015, 12:07:17 AM »
Hi all,

Sorry for making a new thread with a similar title to the one that's been locked, however I would like to pass on some useful findings regarding my testing with the latest 1.0.7 firmware. It looks like 15.2 Kodi Final with the Rockchip codec (i.e. that taken from the Zidoo X6 and installed manually after flashing the H8 Octa firmware to 1.0.7, thus replacing the version HiMedia incorporates into its firmware, which to my knowledge is older (specifically Kodi 15.2 RC2 and not "15.2 Final")) is gold except for a remaining lip sync issue (at least with DTS and AC3 tracks). I've watched a few movies from start to finish now and there indeed a delay with the audio (speech). To fix it at the moment one must manually add an advance audio offset in this Kodi build of exactly 100-200ms (0.100s to 0.200s) depending on the movie. Doing so makes the audio sync with the actors' lips perfectly.

If this could be incorporated directly into the Rockchip codec Kodi uses (rather than having to do it each time manually in Kodi for every movie) then I believe everyone concerned will rejoice.

Here is a photo of how to advance audio by the specified amount above:

Happy New Year 2016  ;)

I've attached a photo of the Kodi build I'm referring to. It's newer than the build you mention by about a month.

Hi GFORCE100,

the problem is not the fixed AV delay. The problem is the one which is growing by time. This you can not adjust!
This happens only if you use an AV-Receiver (this is the main point) and Audio pass-through in Kodi. If you let decode Kodi the Audio stream, it is only in Stereo and synchron (or with a fix delay).

From which Zidoo firmware exactly did you use the Kodi apk? The Kodi's from the two newest Zidoo FW versions are crashing at play-start.

HDMediaplayer,

I'm not currently using an AV receiver (I believe you mean amplifier) hence can't comment on the dynamic delay you mention.

If it helps I've uploaded my version of Kodi 15.2 Final below. It doesn't crash, or at least I've not been able to force it to crash as of yet. You can try hard flashing the H8 with the leaste 1.0.7 Final firmware (i.e. using a paper clip). Maybe there are some stored settings that are interfering with the latest Kodi release, and these cause it to crash. You'll need to re-apply settings for WLAN, wallpaper etc., but worth a try.

Hi GFORCE100,

thx for the feedback.
AV-Receiver is the correct designation for it, but you are right it is also an amplifier.
(Google the Pioneer VSX-924 for example or read this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AV_receiver)

If you don't use an AVR the problems are not comparable.

mencwelp,

I haven't tried installing any add-ons. Which APK file are you installing from? What version is it?

There are two reasons why I asked as above. 1) I don't see a version for Android and 2) The download links (forum threads) are in what appears to be Russian.

Either way I am yet to find a link to an Android version via the method you posted above.

Did you download such APK file and install it manually, or did you install it from when browsing online directly from the H8 Octa (i.e. from within Kodi or Google's Play Store)?

Usual way  for official  KODI is just to enable  becoust thsi adon should be pre installed and just  disabled.
see it here : http://tutorial-iptv-xbmc.blogspot.co.uk/2014/12/setup-live-tv-pvr-iptv-simple-client.html
http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=228244

Alternatively
you can download add-on zip file from :

http://www.bbtsip.tv/uploads/3/1/6/0/31603209/a.kodi_15.2.pvr.iptvsimple.zip
or
http://www.mediafire.com/download/3kjnht58m9y66jo/and.kodi.15.beta1.pvr.iptvsimple2.zip

and install  add-on  from zip

or you can install int from SuperRepo https://superrepo.org/get-started/

I tried doing it via the first method you mentioned (http://tutorial-iptv-xbmc.blogspot.co.uk/2014/12/setup-live-tv-pvr-iptv-simple-client.html) and while no errors occur, there is no Live TV menu option after restarting Kodi (as suggested within that tutorial). I re-checked the configuration settings for this add-on and all appear OK (as in the tutorial).

You didn't confirm how you specifically installed this add-on and as such I can't compare. It looks to me you did it differently than what you suggest given the errors you received.

I pointed out those two methods just be cause this add-on is not pr-installed in  1.0.7 KODI like it is in official version(tutorial).
and like it was in previous  version of firmware.

I was trying both methods so i can get back live-TV menu on my box.
First method does not  give me any error during installation but Add-on is not enabled  - maybe some libraries are missing ?
Then after uninstalling add-on i have try second method , and then I have errors .
Never the less I'm not able to get this add-on working, while had this installed before upgrading to 1.0.7 and it disappeared after.
In general if add-on is installed correctly and enabled , in SYSTEM Live TV and after restarting KODI new menu (TV) will appear in Home screen.

Okay. I think it's vital to stick to what you did so I can see if the same error can be replicated in the Kodi version I'm using. Hence to confirm, by the 2nd method (manually installing the Simple IPTV PVR Client add-on) you used, you mean you downloaded this aforementioned add-on from the link below, correct?
http://www.bbtsip.tv/uploads/3/1/6/0/31603209/a.kodi_15.2.pvr.iptvsimple.zip

Prior to that, did you disable, uninstall or otherwise (i.e. anything else) the existing add-on given it's bundled within the official Kodi as you implied above?

Last but not least, I assume you installed it manually from inside Kodi (i.e. Koding running), or was this externally (without Kodi running)?
