Himeda Q10 pro Android 5 > 7, please help.
« on: September 19, 2020, 06:04:37 PM »
I have install Android 5.1.1 HMD-1.0.0 2017-03-15.164418 with SuperU.
Now no more running Netflix and Sky Go, I will switch to Magisk Manager and update to Android 7.

Can you help me?
Which are the correct files?
Have you a step by step instruction?

Sorry for my bad english language, you can also answer in german.

Thanks

Q10 Pro Android 5.1 to Android 7 firmware 2.0.4:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/bzd7e7vi9bbwz6a/Q10_PRO_FIRMWARE._ANDROID_5.1_TO_ANDROID_7_v2.0.4._FUTEKO._HMD-2.0.4_2017-07-05.191425.zip/file

Instructions:
1. Extract update.zip (using an unzip program like 7zip, winzip etc) from the downloaded zip archive to the root of a FAT32 formatted USB pen drive, there is no need to rename anything!
2. Insert the USB pen drive into any USB port of Q10 Pro.
3. With Q10 Pro turned off, use a paper clip or pen to press and hold the the pinhole UPGRADE button on the back of Q10 Pro (next to the power port).
4. While keeping the UPGRADE button pressed, turn on the Q10 Pro.
5. Q10 Pro will showthe Android 7 coloured circle logo.
6. When you see the circle logo you can release the restore button.
7. A progress bar will indicate update progress. Do not turn box off or use the box/remote during update!
8. When update is complete the box will automatically reboot.
9. First boot will take 3-5 minutes. The box will reboot into new firmware. Allow boot to complete.

Next install version 2.1.4 from here:
https://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=4341.0

Next install version 2.1.7 from here (note that you don't extract the firmware file):
https://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=4864.0

Try the apps you need, if they don't work as expected try Pcristi's latest custom firmware:

I have a problem unzipping the update.zip in the first linked firmware file.

When unzipping, Badizip tells me that certain files are already there.

The interesting thing is that the "original files" and the "new files" are different sizes.
What should I do, which file should I use?

These are the "duplicate files":
arcturus.ogg  original 7,74 kB new 7,72 kB
vega.ogg  original 26,6 kB new 28,7 kB
Andromeda.ogg  original 24,4 kB new 24,3 kB
CanisMajor.ogg  original 30,4 kB new 30,4 kB
Perseus.ogg  original 110 kB new 230 kB
UrsaMinor.ogg  original 140 kB new 180 kB
hydra.ogg  original 22,3 kB new 22,4 kB

Because these are only sound files, I think it's not critical. I am testing it with the "new files".

@Sysop
Are not "Badizip" you just choose to unzip in non case sensitive file system(FAT32/NTFS).
HiMedia box use EXT4 file system witch is case sensitive and support file like "ANDROMEDA.ogg" and "Andromeda.ogg".

DON'T UNZIP update.zip, extract it from the downloaded file to a USB flash drive.
Update.zip is the firmware

According to the instructions above, the downloaded files should be extracted to the root directory of the FAT32 stick.

Only after the update to 2.17 should the update.zip not be unpacked if I have understood / read this correctly. I unzipped "Bandizip" with the Windows software and overwritten existing files, there was only one choice: overwrite / skip.

EDIT:
Now I've installed CFW HMD 2.1.7, Netflix and Prime Video work.

Respect and thank you for the great work.

Would Sky Go work too (haven't tested it yet)?
