KODI 18.4 Wrapper does not work
« on: October 26, 2019, 07:58:23 AM »
Hi, I own a HIMEDIA Q10.  HMD-2.1.4 and KODI 18.4

KODI 18.4 Wrapper does not work

I've never been able to use the Wrapper. It does not work. I want to use it now. When I try to play a 4K, DTS movie, I just get a black screen.

I have a SAMSUNG 4K HDTV and a YAMAHA RX-A3070 (4K Receiver).

Please advice. Thanks, Arawakan

Have you read the wrapper section in the FAQs?

Yes, thanks for replying. And I followed the instructions, but it did not help.

However, I found a solution by coincidence while troubleshooting, and I want to share it for future reference.

I disconnected the HIMEDIA Q10's HDMI cable from the Yamaha AVR, and connected it directly to the Samsung's HDTV to bypass the AVR. (All my devices are connected to the Yamaha receiver and the AVR's HDMI video output connects to the HDTV's video input). I wanted to test if the problem was with the AVR.

Well, I still had the black screen after connecting the android box directly to the HDTV. But guess what? then I connected the HIMEDIA Q10's HDMI cable back to the Yamaha AVR and ….. Shazam! I started to see the 4K video and DTS signal showed on my receiver. I tested other 4K, Dolby Digital, ATMOS, DTS-X files and they all played.

The new HDMI hand shake between the HIMEDIA Q10 and the AVR, - AFTER - reinstalling the wrapper fixed the problem.

(Shutdown Kodi. Find wrapper app at My Apps - Wrapper. Select 'use Kodi player'. Exit wrapper app. Run wrapper app again. Select 'use wrapper player'. Exit wrapper app. Restart Kodi").
