Lifespan of Himedia Q10pro
« on: September 15, 2019, 11:53:06 PM »
Greetings guys , I had this device for 18 months and now its showing problems. 1) The 3TB Hdd is not visible and opened by the media player.2)once I close the device operation by remote ,it can't be opened anymore.3.) The manual pressing of start button on the device panel does not works anymore but keeps on blinking .
I have done factory reset and the same problems arise.
Does it mean this device is showing signs it nears  the "end of life "and have to get a new one?😟.
Is there a way how to repair the defects of this device.?

The very first thing you need to do is remove the HDD out of the equation.

If you are still having issues, the most reported failing component of the Q10 is the external power supply. This is where I would start looking.

Best thing to do is a search on this site for 'replacement power supply'.
Here is a good place to start.

Hmmn.do you mean I have to find  more powerful adapter instead of the existing one which is becoming underpowered.?

One final tip, before going down the hardware path, you said you have tried a factory reset, did you try installing a newer (or same) version of the firmware with the pin reset method?

That's a good question.. I am wary of continuous firmware update as my device is an Asian version. After I done the reset I did not notice that the firmware was reset to earliest versions. I took a photo of the settings data before I did the reset .I just did a firmware update last april 2019. May I ask as the device becomes "underpowered "does it have to do with firmware ?
I think there is a problem with the poweradspter as I see lately it was not fitted snug into the outlet but only 2/3  of it at most. Maybe the wire connected to the device was  pulled accidentally while cleaning the surface  the Himedia was placed. What do you think..could an improperly attached plug can affect the integrity of the circuitry.?
Further if I used  power supply that is 0.5 amps more than the one provided during the purchase of this device would it not cause Overload .

In the threads, you will see that a 2.5amp PSU has already been used successfully. It should just draw the current it needs; your choice!

A poorly fitted plug could certainly cause issues, you need to sort out any potential problems before proceeding to other options.

I think there is a problem with the plug as I checked the snugness of fit . I will be looking a replacement this coming Sunday.
