Color space
« on: July 04, 2019, 11:13:51 AM »
Himedia Q10 pro with settings: 2160p 24Hz 4K, in color space the Himedia to chosen YCbCr422. How many bits are there?

I have Sony TV KD-49XE9005, which supports: * 4K (50, 60 Hz) with YCbCr 4: 4: 4, YCbCr 4: 2: 2, YCbCr 4: 2: 0 / 10bit, RGB, HDR image, etc.

I use a FeinTech VAX01201 splitter that supports the following:

RGB color space, YCbCr 4: 4: 4, 4: 2: 2; 4: 2: 0

Supported color formats 3 x 8 Bit - 12 Bit

Can someone tell me what color space should I choose or what would be the best.

I have seen this box in the forum. Does this mean that if I put the himedia to 2160p 4K 60Hz I would be working at 12 bit?

What configuration should I choose to obtain the best result?

Thank you

YCbCr 4: 4: 4 / 10bit, but you must set the GUI to 30Hz (and not to 60Hz) if you want to keep these during video playback.

I'm going to try what you indicate.

I tried several configurations and I have not achieved YCbCr 4: 4: 4 / 10bit.

The most I have achieved, I think that at 30 Hz it is automatically set to YCbCr 4: 2: 0/10 bit and at 2160p 24 Hz it indicates YCbCr 4: 2: 2.

Thank you

Trying to explain more accurate: Set the GUI (in Settings) to 30Hz, than go to Advanced Settings and set the rest to YCbCr 4: 4: 4 / 10bit. You must be able to set this value as your TV supports it. This way during  playback (at 24p or any other fps/Hz) it will keep YCbCr 4: 4: 4 / 10bit. These are the best possible values for video playback. Otherwise if you set the GUI to any other Hz it will switch always to 422 / 8bit during video playback, that isn't that optimal.  That's due a bit of a bug in the HiMedia firmware...  With the GUI set to 60Hz (as you see on the sheet) you would only be able to set 420 / 10bit, but that's not what you wanna do...

12bit mode only available in the CFW's. With some patch.

@Mount81
Hello,
I am on CFW 2.14. I also want 2160 video playback, at 4:4:4:/12bit.
Only option for 30Hz is 2160. At this resolution 4:4:4:-10 bits says is NOT supported.
If I set GUI to 1080/60Hz - then 4:4:4:/10 bit IS supported.
Where is the 4:4:4/12bit option in this CFW? I have never met it so far. I can also modifiy these settings in the AFR patch, by accessing directly the afr.cfg file, isn't it?
Cheers.

There could me multiple reason why 444 / 10bit mode is not accepted by your TV with 2106p. First check if the TV really does support 10bit input. Check it's setting for color spaces, deep color and the HDMI source labels and modes to fit to a media player. Also check if the Box is connected in the right HDMI slot reserved for media players on the TV.

I guess AFR patch and/or AFR assistant tool is the key to the 12bit, haven't checked tho'...

Mount81, thank you very much for your help.

I followed the steps you indicated and perfect, 2160p 30Hz 4K and then I could choose YCbCr 4: 4: 4 / 10bit and once accepted and was recorded. I stuck Himedia and turned on again and everything was perfect.

I repeat many thanks for your great help. a greeting

Once I managed to put the Himedia q10 pro at  2160p 30Hz 4K and switched to  YCbCr 4: 4: 4 / 10bit  and working perfectly, I ask:

In Display I must put   24 Hz  ON  or  turn it   OFF.

Since I see that the player changes the Hz automatically every time he plays a movie or series.

Thank you

IMHO its better to have that 24hz option On since you could get stuttering on 24hz content otherwise. It's always better to match content framerate with outputed framerate.
