Unable to update to custom firmware
« on: April 20, 2019, 06:52:14 PM »
Hi!

Just succesfully performed an update from Android 5.1 to 7. I saw the Android logo and the himedia logo was only on the screen for a few minutes before booting to the mainscreen.

After this I wanted to try the custom firmware, the 2.1.1 version. However, I noticed "ONLY FOR INSTALL OVER FIRMWARE 2.0.4 / 2.0.5 / 2.0.6 / 2.0.7 / 2.0.8 / 2.0.9 / 2.1.0 / 2.1.1" line. So I went with version 2.1.0 first. This is where the problem started. I got the Android ring on the screen after starting the update and the progress-bar is 100% but nothing happens next. It has been there for hours now.

I did make sure I downloaded the files for the Android 7. What can/should I try next?

Which version you installed first when you upgraded to Android 7?

Which version you installed first when you upgraded to Android 7?

Hi stl, thanks for your reply. I flashed the firmware from Android 5.1 to 7.0, using the official 2.0.0 FUTEKO. HMD-2.0.0 2016-11-18. From there I tried to install the custom version 2.1.0. Should I try to flash the firmware to another version?

Reinstall 2.0.0, then 2.0.3, 2.0.4 and finally 2.1.1

Thanks again for your help! Just to be sure:

2.0.0 = official firmware
2.0.3 = custom firmware?
2.0.4 = custom firmware
2.1.1 = custom firmware

I just tried to update the firmware to 2.0.0 (official). When I use a pin to push the reset button, and then power on the device I got the following to see:

1. HiMedia logo
2. Android ring with status bar
3. the android ring switches to Android robot, which lays on his back with an exclamation mark (in a red triangle), it does show some progress on the status bar, but only for a few seconds
4. the HiMedia logo appears again (and the device itself displays "boot"

I there something I overlooked? Or anything else I can try to go past the himedia/boot logo?

Without attempting to flash a firmware (i.e. with no USB stick inserted), what exactly do you get on the screen when turning the Q10 Pro on?

The device is a Q5 Pro. When turned on without usb stick inserted it shows the HiMedia logo (and "boot" on the device itself) but nothing happens, not even after two hours.

Try install original HiMedia 2.0.3 after is boot successfully to HiMedia launcher will see where you want go:
- install original HiMedia 2.0.4 then original HiMedia 2.1.1 or  install original HiMedia 2.0.4 then custom firmware 2.1.1/2.1.2.

Thanks for your reply. I am downloading the several firmwares right now and will start to update in the order you suggested. Hopefully the original 2.0.3 will bring me past the bootloop.

Just tried the original 2.0.3 firmware. At first I get the Android ring, after a second or two the Android robot will appear laying on it's back with the exclamation mark in the red triangle. The statusbar does show some progress for a very short period of time. The device itself displays "00:00", then "0". Without fully filling the statusbar, it shows the HiMedia logo (the device itself "boot") and I am stuck in the bootloop again?

Is there anything else I could try?

I tried to shorten the pins but the the device still hangs on the boot logo. After that I tried to the resetbutton on the back (with the recovery usb stick still inserted) and got past the HiMedia logo. It displayed the Android update circle and the progressbar was quickly filled. However, for since an hour or so it still only displays the full progress bar (power button led still flashes) and nothing happens. Anything else I could try?
