SD card as internal storage
« on: January 17, 2019, 11:47:03 AM »
Can anyone running 2.11 (official or custom), confirm whether this is still working, please? I know it worked on earlier firmware.
I have tried several cards and USB and the process gets to 40% then fails every time. Trying to reformat the devices in the Q10 results in corruption.
ALL of them can be inserted into a different Android device and reformatted correctly, so I am confident that the problem is not with the cards/USB.
Thank you.

You are right Sir...I just checked my Himedia Q10 Pro Android box....It is is not listed on the Media Center..Checked it on my laptop, got a message that SD card is corrupted, fixed it then inserted it back in the box, the same issue remains ( Unidentified by the android box) ..hope we get a solution soon...I recommend that you go back to an older release if you need the SD card badly...Thank you for the info.

Do you mean the SD Card slot on the side of the box? If so, I would guess that very few people use it. Why do you need it?

I've just found an old 16Gb Sandisk MicroSD Card from an old mobile phone and stuck it into an adaptor and then into the Q10 slot.
No problems! The card appears in Media Center (as EXTERNAL storage as drive E:) and I can play any of the music files on the card.
Thats not the same.
There is an option to format the card so that it becomes part of the internal storage and remains in the slot. This used to work. Now it doesn't.

It has been reported to HiMedia, who say they will investigate. However, nothing will happen now until after 10th Feb because it is Chinese New Year and all of China is on holiday.

The side mounted SD card slot is a huge advantage over another similar 'box' that uses a MicroSD card with their access slot at the bottom of the rear panel which (on both counts) makes it unnecessary hard to find and insert or remove. Between that microscopic paper thin card and it's location, one would be pressed to make it any harder to use.
As far as use, it can expand internal storage.

Good post SSThing, this saves others from a hassle. ;)
