1. Extract update.zip (using an unzip program like 7zip, winzip etc) from the downloaded archive to the root of a FAT32 formatted USB pen drive. (the USB pen drive should contain a single file called 'update.zip'). Note, there is no need to rename anything!
2. Insert the USB pen drive into any USB port of Q5 Pro.
3. With Q5 Pro turned off, use a paper clip or pen to press and hold the the pinhole RESTORE button on the back of Q5 Pro (next to the power port).
4. While keeping the RESTORE button pressed, turn on the Q5 Pro.
5. Q5 Pro will show the Android 7 coloured circle logo).
6. When you see the circle logo you can release the restore button.
7. A progress bar will indicate update progress. Do not turn box off or use the box/remote during update!
8. When update is complete the box will automatically reboot.
9. First boot will take 3-5 minutes. The box will reboot into new Android 7 firmware. Allow boot to complete.

After a long time, I come back to this forum.
The only thing I can conclude is HiMedia still makes new firmwares, but reading the Q10 section (I'm here, because I own a Q5), they still have many, many bugs. They solve lot's of bugs, but they introduce lot's of new ones.

My conclusion is: there must be many bunglers involved in the HiMedia software development.

After 2 years problems and buggy software, I gave up and bought a NvidiaShield, for less the price I paid for the HiMedia Q5.
The first half year a little bug with Netflix audio, wich was solved by a software-update. Software-updates by Nvidia Shield means new features, but no bug solution, because they rarely have bugs.

it is a shame because the HiMedia Q5 is a beautiful device in terms of design.

Hi, was a long time now that i was able to se 4k content on youtube with this device, neither with the provided app or with youtube app from appstore, neither is chrome able to show it on youtube even if i put it to request desktop page.
Any solution for this in the near future?
The provided youtubeapp allso can not show livestreams.
I guess the android verisions for theese are missing some new codec? was hoping this uppgrade wuld fix it.
