LANmote Deluxe
« on: November 03, 2015, 09:51:54 AM »
Hi,

I have a Q5. It's rather nice. Am currently working through a number of players to test KODI performance for potential installation for my clients. For my requirements I need to install LANmote Deluxe software to interface with the control system hardware I use:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.portable.LANmote.Deluxe&hl=en

I have it installed on Q5 and it is not allowing transport controls through for some reason. I have enquired with LANmote people and they wonder if it might be something in the player firmware:

http://lanmote.idea.informer.com/proj/?ia=98663

Unfortunately there is not an option to use other control software for Android, hardware and drivers that I am using that cannot be changed require the installation of LANmote. Has anyone got LANmote to successfully work perhaps I am doing something stupid! Or could possible shed any light onto my issues?

Looking at the stickies at the top of this forum I may not have updated the firmware correctly as I am still on Helix version of KODI so perhaps I could start there!!

We don't recommend rooting the Q5 and it will invalidate warranty, but this thread describes how it's done: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=203.msg1417#msg1417

As I have said:

"Unfortunately there is not an option to use other control software for Android, hardware and drivers that I am using that cannot be changed require the installation of LANmote."

I am using a Home Automation system which controls the device using IP interface. It controls many features of KODI directly, but to control Android elements it requires LANmote installed. This is a prerequisite of the home automation driver and this cannot be changed as this is what it has been written for (and is typically fine with other Android devices). Using other KODI implementations it is not so much a problem since they do not use a 3rd party wrapper to play media. With the Q5 and implementing only KODI IP control once a movie jumps into the Hi-Media wrapper the automation system suddenly loses the ability to stop the movie for example.

Thank you for your response. For some reason I had it in my mind that the Q5 was rooted already! I shall test with this procedure later. Will also make sure I got the update working as I am sure I am still running Helix on our test unit.

it's not have any sense, if app need root it's very bad application .
App must use android API , if LANmote need root because there is not a official API this may be cause malfunction of system error.
it's not a professional, secure and stable solution.
you can not sold a clients this solution.

Home Automation device have serial port not hacking of OS system.

Thank you for your response again without checking any facts or reading what I said.

LANmote is a simple program, it translates a number of HTTP requests into built in Android control commands in order that you can gain a simple open IP based control of the device. In my case another driver I am using has been written to take advantage of this particular codeset. It is not a bad application simply because it requires a rooted device.

Yes Home Automation devices have RS232 serial ports, they also have infra-red ports, contact closures and relays. But the fastest means to control and send receive graphic files in the modern age is using IP. Just as many devices before this one have and many devices into the future shall continue to do so.
